I recently had a placement as a student nurse at Woodside grange on the chestnut suite for a week. It was absolutely amazing, I can’t applaud the staff enough. From the second i walked in i was made to feel welcome and was introduced to all of the staff and residents who lived there. The manager Lisa was really helpful and answered any query I had in regard to the residents and other health related topics to aid my learning whilst there. The unit was so clean and organised and really gave off a homely feel which was lovely to see. The care and compassion from all of the staff stood out to me along with between residents and really conveyed how much of a big family they all are there. They also provide fun activities for all of the residents each day along with exercise and spiritual workshops to cater to everyone’s hobbies and enjoyments. It’s so refreshing to go to a placement where everyone is so joyful, the rooms were constantly filled with laughter and happiness throughout the day. It really is a very inclusive, safe space for anyone to be and I can’t wait to go back to visit 🙂

My husband was admitted on Christmas Eve and has been living with dementia for some time.
The care shown to him has been second to none and he loves being there.(Never once asking to come home.)The staff are friendly to him and to myself when I visit. They have been supportive to us both, so much so that, as he requires residential care now,I would like him to be there permanently.
Keep up the excellent work everyone. You have my total respect for all you do under difficult circumstances.

Our mam, who had a massive stroke, resided in Woodside Grange for over five years experiencing care on residential, then dementia and eventually nursing. In all these areas I can honestly say she was treated with kindness and compassion, being offered not only care but friendship and love (even when she could be quite difficult and demanding). I know our mam could not have been cared for any better and it brought me great comfort to know she died amongst people who knew her well and treat her with the she deserved.

Absolutely diabolical care. My 83 year old mum was starting to fall at home so we had to get nursing care for her. We told the staff that we wanted a bed guard as mum was always falling out of bed. Staff did not take any notice even when we complained continuously. Within the 5 month in their care my mum was hospitalised 3 to 4 times due to falls, she had new cuts and bruises every time we visited. After a tragic fall whilst the staff were supposedly watching her, my lovely precious mum passed away. The last picture we have of her is with a cut face, black and purple bruises on face arms and legs and a large bump where she had banged her head. After complaining the manageress apologised and said when she first assessed my mum she should have asked whether mum had bed guards at home. Not good enough I'm afraid. I am of the understanding my mum wasn't the only one that ended up in hospital, as a poor 90 year old man was in the same state. I wouldn't let them care for a dog never mind your loved one.

My dad had been admitted to this Care home as he had contracted covid whilst in hospital. The whole floor was for covid patients. He had a terrible time whilst staying here and his morale was very low.
The first day in his room, the toilet did not flush, 1 light did not work, the carpet and bed linen were dirty and the TV did not work.
When dad asked where he could go to the toilet they said you have to use this toilet, the blocked, unflushed toilet. He refused. When he asked about the TV he was told ask your family to bring a TV in. He did get moved that same day because he was vocal. If someone couldn't speak for themselves they would have had to suffer.
No towels or batteries in the remote control in dad's new room. Again he was told, ask your family to bring them in. Brought these in for dad's towel and trousers to go missing in the laundry and not found before his 10 day stay finished.
5am shower time dad woken up to get a shower. At least dad was helped to bathe. One time 2 people came to give dad a shower but they had no towel for dad and his pj s sent to the laundry hadn't come back. They wanted to put his dirty clothes back on him which rightfully he said no to.Not all the staff were short and rude with dad and he made a point of telling me there were some lovely staff.
One morning dad was woken up at 5am to take medicine. He said the Dr always says to have with food, even a biscuit. The staff member basically said no our rules you must have it now.
Bed sheets not changed once during dad's stay. Someone came to clean the room once in dad's 10 day stay. Dad couldn't leave his room as all the patients had to stay with in their own rooms because of covid but, each time they went in they left dad's door open which he couldn't understand why.
Thankfully my dad came home after 10 days, if he had been in much longer I don't know what his mental state would have been. I would not recommend this Care home to anybody.

Disgrace of a care home! my aunt was here for a few months and everytime I visited she had a new bruise and was always teary and scared (yes she had dementia) but being a carer for people with dementia myself I know the signs of neglect, safe to say we removed her from this place and noticed a big difference in the way she improved, more calm, relaxed etc! this place needs investigating.. something is going on in this awful place.

1 star because it won't allow me to give zero.
Appalling place do not allow your family members to go here.
Don't know where to begin, neglect, untrained, irresponsible staff and poor management, numerous accidents due to negligence. Currently being investigated by stockton borough council. How this place is still open I don't know.

Can only speak highly of the care given to a family member. Every staff member we have dealt with has shown a tremendous approach to their jobs. We have seen our relative settle in quickly and be comfortable in her new surroundindgs
