Exceptional… All the food was perfectly cooked, fresh and if excelkent quality. The service was very professional and not inteusive. Dave (owner) casually walked around to make sure all diners were happy with their food. A nice little bonus at the end was a chat with the Chefs who were really enthusiatic about their work. We would highly recommend the Calamari, Baked Monkfish and the Sticky Toffee Pudding. You will not be disappointed.

Wow what a lovely place to have a cosy meal with family! I love the range of options on the menu and the food is all presented so well and tastes amazing. The service is top notch too, with knowledgeable and friendly staff and it’s all reasonably priced. It’s my first time trying this place but I’ll definitely be back. I would recommend the Nduja Scotch Egg for starter and the duck for the main.. but all is lovely.

I rarely write reviews but my experience has been so bad that I feel compelled to warn others.
The William B used to be a favourite establishment but has drastically gone down hill since the new owner.
The service, food quality and detail do not match the increased price point.

Owners dogs running around and barking in the restaurant is not appropriate.
The barking startled one of our party who dropped their drink over themselves and had to leave early as they were soaked through.

No steak knives for the steaks.

Some of our table sent food back as it was cold.
Food was returned to us with half the dish missing. Parts of the meal missing from others dinners.

No apology from the owner or acknowledgment of the incorrect food. Instead our party were accused of trying to ‘get a free meal’.

When we asked for salt and pepper for the table the owner told us that they don’t provide it as guests over season their food but if we wanted it then someone would be brought over.

Staff arguing, waitress close to tears.

Arrogant and condescending owner. I have worked in restaurants myself and have never been so appalled at the manner in which the owner has behaved.

No wonder the rest of the staff were close to breaking point.

Sadly we shall never return to what was once of our favourite local restaurants.

Food was ok. Meat was a loin as opposed to a "joint of pork". Didn't feel the restaurant was as good as it used to be. Not particularly friendly . Felt more like a transaction rather than being looked after . Found out there were "specials" after we had finished our meal as heard another table being told about it. Also be careful with your bill. We were told we had to pay a deposit when we booked which we did but had to ask for it to come off the bill. Surely if you are asking everyone to pay a deposit you shouldn't have to ask for it to be deducted. Very odd. Won't be rushing back

This is what a country pub is supposed to be like. The treatment from all the staff and the owner, Dave, has been perfect from the moment we stepped in to the moment we left. The atmosphere and care from the staff has been second to none. Dave the owner, along with his two beautiful, well behaved, toy poodle dogs, has been the consummate host; where he has been so attentive to every whim and wish including seating location, music and more. The Sunday Roast has been the best roast we have had and we have tried many pubs all over London and Essex. This place is an absolute gem and a must visit. We will definitely be coming back, in fact we all (party of 10) loved every moments we spent here. Thank you for such an amazing Sunday with the family.

Attentive service in a beautiful, traditional setting. Menu is seasonal and delicious.

There is a children's menu, but I was happy to leave mine at home and soak up the atmosphere with some friends. Think exposed beams, heavy white tablecloths and napkins, tiny fairy lights everywhere.

There were two dogs running around which I didn't enjoy, but otherwise, a really lovely evening and well worth a visit.
