I rang Woodhouse Medical Centre up on Friday to arrange an appointment. I started ringing from 7:59 but kept getting cut off as the voice recording said that the queue was at full capacity when they had only just started answering telephone appointments. I had eventually joined the queue at 9:05 and waited 1h and 44s till reaching the front of the queue, when the call was cut off after the voice recording said that "unfortunately the staff were unable to attend my call." Afterwards, I decided to make a final attempt to get through to the receptionist, and luckily after under an hour's wait my call was answered. However, I was unable to make an appointment as they were at full capacity, and was told to ring again in the following week.

I didn't want to be writing a negative review as I have had no problem with creating an appointment before, and the doctors are usually very good. I'm just hoping that it was a one off with being a busy Friday!

Terrible practice, receptionists are rude, you can't make an appointment with a doctor, only with a nurse who will measure the silence.
They tell you to call in the morning and for 40 minutes no one picks up and when they do pick up, I have no more appointments and I have to call the next day and so on for a week. And after all, people work and don't have time to be on the phone every day to make an appointment. Why don't other GPs have these problems. Instead of caring and treating people, they only stress and raise blood pressure. Why can't it be like it used to be, they would pick up without a problem, and you could stand in a queue in the morning and make an appointment.

I used this health centre for an out of hours appointment. It was made at half past 3 for 8pm which I thought was great, and then I got a phone call from a nurse offering me to come earlier if I wanted to and so I went there for 6pm which was exactly what I needed. Dawn, the nurse, greeted me with a smile and very energetic but also kind demeanour. Before proceeding to carry out the test she explained what's going to happen in a detail, making sure I understood everything, asked me if I had any questions and gave me lots of reassurance. This must have been the most professional, caring and the friendliest nurse appointment I have ever had. I am still in awe. NHS as a system might be broken but the staff (at least some) is excellent and is a real asset.

Honestly the worst GP I’ve ever had the misfortune of joining, and I was there less than a month. You can’t get an appointment and might manage to get an out of hours GP 4 days after calling if you’re lucky. GP was legit cracking jokes about a very delicate situation and the receptionists are deliberately unhelpful and obnoxious - happy to have left and be with Birley Health Centre as an ‘out of area’ patient - highly recommend them

Absolutely atrocious doctors, don't even bother joining, save yourself the trouble and join somewhere else. Most of the doctors don't have a clue what they are doing saying they will refer you and then you get a letter saying they can't get through and to do it yourself... absolutely disgusting behaviour. But won't give me a pay packet at end of the month to do job for them will they?

I used the Accurx system through the NHS app to contact the surgery about my problem. I was contacted by SMS promptly to be offered 1st available appointment which was not as long a wait as I was expecting. I saw Dr Sharman today who was really helpful and had a wonderful caring manner and acknowledged and settled my concerns. She spoke to a specialist after my appointment and has sent me an SMS with an outcome carefully explaining next steps. An absolute asset to the team. Well done! Doctors' appointments have not been easy in recent times but I really hope this smooth efficient process is the start of a positive change. Thank you sincerely for all your hard work!
