Hernia op.
I had my hernia op yesterday and was a nervous wreck. From entering the building to going home the staff we're 1st class. Nothing was too much trouble and the treatment I received was fantastic. Pre surgery the two ladies that were looking after me and preparing for my op were great and completely settled me. The surgeon team were fantastic from what I can remember 😂 Thank you to each and every one of you ❤️

I have an MRI report proving significant Osteo Arthritis damage. The assessment triage nurse confirmed it was significant (along with 15 years of bad pain, ligament damage and a previous keyhole op that proved in effectual).

The nurse put me forward for a knee replacement. Several weeks later (finally feeling like a positive experience was going to help me have a new lease of life) at my pre-op assessment, the Consultant, known here as simply PW, used just an x-ray to decide I couldn't have they knee replacement, despite not having seen the MRI, which I said I could obtain for him.

He also didn't deny that bad Osteo behind the knee cap was enough damage to warrant the op. I explained that I have had this pain for over a decade and it significantly limits my ability to do exercise. He also didn't dispute that my knee is practically bone on bone.

The MRI report shows 'significant Osteo Arthritis damage with wide areas of cartilage loss and Osteophyte formation. This is along with areas of Articular Cartilage Degeneration and focal areas of fissuring.

I left his office in floods of tears after his insistence of just steroid injections. I cannot use steroids. I would have explained that to him if he had been willing to listen. I asked him to reconsider making his decision once he had seen the MRI/Report, but he wouldn't listen. These Consultants have no consideration for how much they can destroy a person's hopes of having a less limited body that's riddled with Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis and now Osteoarthritis decomposing my joints.

I came here for a Sleeve Gastrectomy with the great Dr. Peter Vasas. My surgery went smoothly and I had the most amazing support from staff before and after. I couldn't remember everyone's name but Kerry, Jane, Atila and either Ava/Amy ( theatre staff) were all amazing. Every staff member I spoke to was so kind and caring. I couldn't commend this hospital more for being so well organised, hygienic, well staffed and great quality care. The private room I had was perfect, had everything I needed in it and I slept very comfortably. Would recommend having a general or orthopedic surgery here to anyone who needed it ❤️❤️❤️ Thankyou so much all of you!

I attended surgery roughly 9 weeks ago. Unprofessional, discriminatory staff. Nurse Sampson ripped up a private prescription which would of caused great harm if I taken the controlled drugs prescribed due to interaction! (I have photographic evidence and a video). She’s denied this which equates to dishonesty and fraud and needs reporting to the NMC for investigation. Easily proved of course because it was a paper copy so she can’t duplicate it! Apparently returned it to the pharmacy - can’t wait to see how their going to get out of this fraudulent mess!

Complained - I’ve asked several times for Nurse Sampson’s pin and also relevant information after the outcome they provided to my complaint to escalate the complaint to the next level. The hospital won’t contact me anymore.

Similar near catastrophic events nearly unfolded before a few years ago. Google the hospital and read the report by The Independent.

If anyone is thinking of having surgery or treatment at Practice plus Group I highly recommend them. I have had a full knee replacement on 11/06/2024 under epidural. From the nurses care on the ward, to consultant surgeons and other theatre staff and physiotherapy it was brilliant. Feeling good for the future.

Cannot praise this clinic enough. A 10 day turnaround from a Saturday morning consultation to a hip replacement operation 9 days later! Clean and modern building. The staff at all levels were excellent including the surgeon who's professionalism didn't get in the way of his sense of humour! The ample plates of food were a real bonus and no hesitation to make you an additional brew if you wanted it. I was kept fully informed at all stages of my treatment. My operation was a NHS procedure but they certainly made you feel special.
My only complaint would be the level of lighting at night..it was a bit too bright ..a point not gone unnoticed by the ward nurses.

I attended for an initial assessment appointment today,unfortunately the whole experience has left me feeling disgruntled. The surgeon I saw Mr Springer showed no interest in my care whatsoever. He was lacking knowledge of my medical history and reason for being referred to him.His communication skills were poor and he appeared to dismiss the results of a recent Xray I have had.I wonder if I had been paying privately to see him his attitude would have been different.This is the worst experience of health care provision I have ever encountered.

Have waited 6 months for a spinal operation on the NHS at Barlborough Hospital but it was well worth the wait. The surgeons, staff and everyone were really friendly, efficient and professional. Lovely clean, calm and comfortable environment with good food. Cannot speak highly enough. Thank you.
