If you want somewhere to control your life this is the place. They tell your doctor what to prescribe, whether it's the right medication or not. Even when you get your life back on track, they still interfere. I suffer from various ailments. One in particular is muscle spasms. I was prescribed diazapam. Which worked and helped greatly. Then the recovery service wrote to my GP and told him to not prescribe any diazapam, period. I didn't abuse them, I didn't do anything that would constitute as that being a problem. Since I was 17, I was on a medication called rivotrol, for my epilepsy. As there the same family as diazapam. Again my GP was told don't prescribe them. Regardless of whether it's the appropriate medication. Now I am the proverbial guinea pig. In the last 5 years I have been on probably 15 or more medications. Leaving me in pain, worrying about the side effects of the medicines I am now on. Believe me when I say, my quality of life is not good. I am in pain, I don't sleep well, I am anxious. And most of all I am angry. If you have a drug or alcohol problem and you go to STAR for support. Be prepared to be treated as a stereo typical addict and have other parts of your life thrown into chaos.
