Today was my second visit here as an outpatient and I was treat with care,kindness and patience. The doctor I saw and the nursing staff are wonderful Thank you all.

I broke my leg after being unwell due to the menopause. I was transferred to this asylum from durham hospital. Supposed to be a recovery centre, not suitable for any others than the elderly.

I was denied my HRT meds during the first night, which has put me in withdrawal and now feeling unwell. I need strength to get mobile enough to go home, so this already set me back. They don't have correct equipment, no stools the correct height to elevate leg, no lifting bar to use to get comfy in bed.

Staff see visible injury, but not always the misery of menopause symptoms, hot sweats, dizziness etc. So don't understand how feeling physically unwell is making it doubly hard to get about. I misjudged some of the care assistants attitude at first, but they are run ragged with poor behaviour and bad manners from some patients. They have little time to spend time speaking to patients, not their fault, but does nothing for patients mental well being.

I know it is bank holiday, but seen no doctor just phone call made to get meds on system so I can have my own that they locked in cupboard that I couldn't get to.

They have put me in a ward with old people groaning, moaning, shouting and playing loud music. They trail them all down to dining hall, like an old peoples home. But I'm spared that by having mine on ward.

I had food in ward due to seating position, but it was cold, they dont offer menu choices like in Durham either.

Very unpleasant listening to the shredding of bed pans on the ward, sounds like a combine harvester.

The staff do their very best under very difficult conditions, and get the impression they are not as valued as a nurse, so please ensure they receive regular praise for an often thankless task.
There is no rehabilitation like I was told, just a holding cell, til you can go home. If you bring your own prescription beware of delays in it being issued, and health issues arising as a result.

It's by far the most miserable experience I have had for a long time. I'm not a celebrity but get me out of here!!!!

My experience of Sedgefield hospital is one of negativity. My Mother was moved from Durham Hospital to Sedgefield. She was there for over two weeks then was released to go home and died the next day despite being told she was well enough to travel home.

The positivity of Durham Hospital was replaced by a sense of desperation. In my opinion the hospital is not really a hospital, just a rest place for patients off-loaded by the 'real' hospitals unable to cope with the demand for beds. The justification for moving my Mother from Durham to Sedgefield was the care described as rehab short for rehabilitation.

I was told my mother would be given physio treatment to improve her walking only to be told that the phsio will not have a lot of input and so called care assistants would have the most input. The input from the any doctor even more limited.

The first day I was there visiting my Mother I saw an elderly patient unattended, wandering the corridor from side to side asking for help and falling. I had to tell the nurse what happened. This experience prompted my concern for my own Mother's welfare in this hospital, which sadly turned out to be right.

Despite being told she was eating during her stay she was evidently
Weaker than her stay in Durham.
She, in my opinion was more confined to her bed. She was also given less medication in hospital without informing her family.

I was told her release from hospital depended on the availability of carers and a care plan for home. Equipment was delivered to our home before her release. In my opinion it was highly optimistic my Mother would be able to use any of this equipment due to her frailty in part due to her long stay in hospital.

In short my Mother would have benefited from coming home straight from Durham Hospital with limited care assistance than being transferred to a so-called community hospital which at best is not fit for purpose and at worst finds it difficult to define what its role is?
I heard other patients voice similar concerns.

I will go as far as to say that if my Mother had been allowed to stay at home without attending either of the hospitals she would still be alive today.

What a great little hospital. Arrived early for our appointment was seen straight away. Staff were excellent no complaints from us. Thanks again.

The ward clerk is always cheerful and helpful but for some reason the nursing staff seem far from happy and that impacts on the way they interact with relatives.
Such a pity as they have the ingredients to be a really good, caring facility (modern building in accessible setting).
Perhaps I’ve just caught them on a bad week- do hope so

Receptionist was fantastic.However I had an x Ray which was so impersonal Radiographer couldn't care less. Would have been nice to have some attempt at conversation.I was upset at the perfunctory nature of my interaction

After visiting my sister in law in this hospital , I thought , what a nice clean hospital ..........well that`s as far as I can go with the praises .
There is no facility for patients to get news papers, no sweet trolley, and as for the meals, well, they are always cold ............tea tasted like cat p**s
My sister in law had to visit Darlington hospital out patients after leaving at 9:am , she got back just after dinner time , and guess what .......they never even kept her any dinner , just as well it probably was cold anyhow ).
Not a hospital I would recommend for any patient having to stay there.

Have to give one star to write this review but would give minus five if I could.Let elderly relative fall on back of head. They couldn't have cared less.Unhelpful, unfriendly nursing staff.
