My family and I have been using this surgery for over 25 years, we have all experienced a consistently high level of service both from the reception staff and the doctors. I think politeness and a bit of understanding towards the reception staff goes a long way as it is a difficult job. The doctors have always been great even when we have stretched their patience 🙂 !

The doctors I have seen here have consistently been very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. However, as others have said, the admin of the practice is a complete mess. To add to a long list of issues, recently I had to see doctors at the practice for two different issues in one week - one for a minor injury in my mouth, and one for trying to get another prescription for important medication that I need to take monthly. The injury in my mouth was resolved after talking to a GP, but I hadn't heard back about the medication when I was supposed to. I called the surgery and found out that they had closed the case regarding my medication because the issue with my mouth had been fixed, and they somehow got confused about the two different issues. There was no apology and it took me a long time to book another appointment - in that time I had to go without medication and my health suffered as a result of this.

The organisational issues really are as bad as other people have said, and they are having a serious impact on people's health. I truly hope they improve at some point.

I am adding to my last review today

Just spoke to Jennifer the so called Practice manager who was so aggressive, obnoxious and rude. I have been a patient here for over 40 years and I have never come across anyone that speaks to patients in this way. She needs to do some training on how to speak and listen to patients with basic manners. I will be putting in a formal complaint. I can see from other reviews that I am not the only one who has similar grievances.

Tried explaining to several members of staff that my daughter is unable to get to the surgery with photo ID as she is unable to walk due to broken pelvis leg and ankle and is in a rehabilitation centre in St Pancras. Asked what they have in place for patients that are unable to attend the surgery told there’s os nothing in place! Promised a call back today from the practice manager all day no call back and now the manager is on holiday from Monday for 2 weeks. So my daughter is now unable to access her medical letters and appointments. All we need is the practice login details as advised by NHS website. Triage system is diabolical it’s not working. Most times I visit am told there are no appointments they are full yet when I get there the waiting room is empty with 2 staff on the desk but no patients.

This doctors practice has gone downhill so dramatically I don’t know where to start. I’ve been going to the surgery for over 20 odd years. I called up at 7:45 to schedule an appointment for the same day. I was told that the doctor was gonna call me back at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. No doctor hasn’t called me back yet so I called back the surgery and was told that the doctor had booked me in to come and see them on Wednesday Bare in mind that I’ve told them on the phone that I’m in severe pain and this has been going on from before Christmas And I had called up before 8 o’clock for a same-day appointment by the time I’ve got to the surgery as I walked straight there after I got off the phone when I got to the surgery now they’re telling me that there’s no appointment till Friday, I told them this is unacceptable. I’m in excruciating pain now. If you can’t help me send me to the hospital the manager of the practice that I can’t send you to the hospital let me see if I can find you an appointment for tomorrow morning. He then found the appointment for 9 o’clock the next day I said okay the next day I’ve got there at 9 o’clock. when I went into the doctors room, I asked for four things my painkillers my sleeping tablets to be sent to the hospital and a PSA test the practice called the police on me, they must’ve thought because I was black I was gonna run out of the surgery or something so I sat down and waited for the police. Police came said that they was going to speak to them about sorting out my prescription. That was it. I left the surgery before the police did the police were still in there talking to them I’ve left gone down to the chemist and they’ve not sent the prescription three days later. They’ve still not sent the prescription so where is the care for their patient? If even after all of this you still haven’t sent out my Prescription medicine, which I need medicine which they lied to the police and told the police that they were sending them, After leaving the doctors practice, I then went to A&E where they helped me The managers, the doctors and the receptionist all need retraining at St John’s doctors practice

A total mess. Can only book appointments from 8 to 9:30am everyday, checked and nobody else does that.

Called asked to get an appointment for an urgent issue. Was asked to print my privately done tests and bring them to the clinic to prove the issue, because their email is down. Done that.

Then appointment given was 2 weeks away. Bravo —> called new GP, they can register me in 3 days, and can get me an appointment in 5 days. May we never cross paths again.

If you manage to get through to a receptionist you soon find out they can't/won't do anything for you. They are also incredibly sensitive to any sort of criticism. All they say is use the online form - for anything. Its obvious that they DO NOT WANT to speak to any patients. And if you do use the website you are often faced with the message "We are unable to deal with any requests today". Useless! If on the very rare occasions you actually speak to an actual doctor, then they're fine. But they always seem unaware of the problems patients face when trying to do basic things like request repeat prescriptions or ask for an appointment. Their ultimate plan seems to be to force people to NEVER contact the surgery, so you end up having to call the NHS 111 number.

I am very grateful for the excellent service that I have had from this GP practice. I feel that the doctors are working in partnership with me to manage the many illnesses that I tend to get associated with having a complex health condition. The online referral system works very well and I am always confident that I will get a timely response. The receptionist staff never fail to impress me with their caring attitude and thoroughness. Many thanks.

I am very happy with my mums gp st johns way medical centre because the econsult is only 1-2 pages with simple questions to answer, it was very quick and convenient. I do not think anyone should complain and patients should be very grateful for this as I even told my parents that had minor english that I can do an econsult for them whenever as it doesnt take time at all! Thankyou.

Therefore, with my own gp which is city road medical centre on the econsult I had to answer 61-62 questions which is very stressful and hard to deal with when I am unwell because it takes around nearly 30 mins to answer.
