I can understand the frustration of trying to get an appointment when you are ill. I am a cancer patient have used this surgery since the 1980s. True drs have come and gone and it was lot different ,more personal than today. Because l use the surgery and hospital l know the pressure on GPS and nurses. I can't complain too much about woosehill surgery, if l explain my problem they always sort something out. It might not be face to face or that day but they do care and try hard. There is terrible pressure on NHS staff. I hope pressure on the surgery will ease and they can continue to grow and improve. I have noticed lately the receptionists are kind and do show care. I can only give my own experience.

Worst receptionist ever at this surgery lady called Carol and Lizzy both so rude it’s unbelievable how they treat you over the phone. I called today for an appointment for my husband as he is very sick and the consultant at RBH ask for me to contact the GP so they can provide him with antibiotics, my husband has an operation on the 11th February. Lizzy was so so rude and not understanding at all and wouldn’t give me an appointment for him. He is on high risk off septic. She said they don’t do telephone consultation anymore, this is not true as me my husband and daughter have all been ill these past few months and we all had telephone consultation only on Tuesday 7th January 2025 I had a telephone consultation with doctor Anand and he asked me to come in to see him straight away. Then she said we are at full composite and I said they must be some you can do, she turned around and said DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? IT MEANS WE HAVE NOTHING AVAILABLE!!!!that really offended me she is there to help not teach you the English language. Then she said call 111 and they will refer your husband to us then we will be able to offer an appointment, i asked to talk to the manager and she said I have to email to speak to the management team, so I said I am coming in and speak to someone, she said you still won’t be able to get an appointment.I this point I hung up and called back on option 6 and spoke to head of reception. Explained everything and she was understanding went to find out what is happening and told me lizzy is getting your husband booked in for today. Carol knew who I was as I had to call back after talking to my husbands consultation I was so shocked to see the way she was talking to me. I was trying to explain to her the situation but she didn’t want to listen and just said BYE and hung up on me while I was still on the phone.

Doctors on the other hand are amazing if you get past the two ladies Lizzy and Carol.
This is not the first time Carol has spoken to me like this.
These two ladies need more training or have them both replaced.

There’s a younger lady at reception who is absolutely amazing and will always help as best as she can.

Recently moved to the area, this is the worst surgery for booking an appointment, I emailed and was told I had to ring in. So I called in and they said it had to be 8am.
So the women who emailed me was probably the women who answered the phone. I can not believe the details entered onto the system Monday morning could not of been entered on Friday afternoon.
Absolutely shocking way of working, super special.
You get spoken to like patients are nothing but an inconvenience.
Update. I called Monday as requested and because everyone is told to ring at 8am, this creates a bottle neck scenario with calls, 30 plus in the queue. Luckily they have an option to press so instead of waiting you will get a call back.

Near impossible to get in touch with this surgery or get service from them. When you do manage to see an actual doctor, however, they are very good to be fair. Son locked out of getting a flu vaccine as they only offer one day (a day we cannot make). Absolutely zero flexibility for working families, zero patient choice. Emails bounce back. Incorrect information given by reception team to fob you off. Dreadful service.

I have had nothing but positive experiences so far with my new Doctors surgery.
The level of care is so much higher and the staff are so much friendlier than at the Finchampstead Surgery.
I'm so glad I moved.
You don't have to tolerate poor service anywhere.

I called up at 8am on the dot and was caller 27. In fairness, it only took 16m to be answered.
By the time I spoke to anyone, all of their appointments were gone for the day, and that I have to go to Reading Urgent Care for help. After explaining upwards of 5 times, that I cannot get there, the receptionist was unhelpful, dismissive, and unsympathetic with no offer of support on what else I can do. If there are no more appointments, you shouldn’t be made to wait on hold still. I understand entirely that they try to do their best, but it just feels like there’s a flaw in the system if you’re waiting upwards of 20m on hold just to be told they have no appointments for the day and call back tomorrow. This isn’t the first time this has happened!

You have more chance of winning the lottery than getting an appointment here. If I want an appointment I can’t book one for date X at a time of my choosing, no matter how many weeks in advance it is. I have to be ready to call at 8am, sit in a queue, and have to accept a same-day appointment. This isn’t possible for me, I have to work. And what if you can’t connect Woosehill to your NHS app? You’ll get a ‘computer says no’ when you seek help from the receptionist who’ll tell you to ‘pop in’ to their workshop on a Wednesday from 1pm - 3pm. Sorry, love, but I work that day.

Oh, and did I mention the day I drove there to book an appointment in person as I couldn’t get through on the phone? Well, guess what - I was sent away and told I have to call them at 8am the next day if I want an appointment!

Only rating this place 1 star as it will not allow you to post a review with zero stars!
Gone are the days when surgery waiting rooms are rammed full. This place hardly ever has anyone waiting, you never hear a phone ring let alone see one answered. Yet getting what you require when you require it is nigh impossible. An 82 year old lady in front of me was for some inexplicable reason unable to make an appointment to see a nurse about an ongoing condition. She was told to phone tomorrow to make her appointment. When she said nobody ever answers the phone she was told to come back tomorrow. What an appalling way to treat a lady of 82. I needed to pick up a prescription I had asked for the previous day. I need the medication after surgery. Nobody had a clue about it. An absolute shambles
Paid my dues all my life and when I need something back all you get is excuses and palmed off. Receptionist justified it by saying "we're only part time". What a joke!
