Horrendous doctors, if you can call it a doctors surgery. The place should be shut down and would be better to turn it into a McDonalds. Staff behind the reception are rude and do not help you. Getting an appointment is awful, you can be standing at the door at 7:30am ready for 8am opening to be told there are no appointments available. My parents are OAPs and get fobbed off everytime. My dad complained of hip pain, only to be told it was due to his age and there’s nothing they can do. Many weeks later of pain, 999 to hospital to be told he has a long hip infection and his hip has actually warn away. This could have been picked up weeks before if the so called doctors did their job properly. Medication is never correct or given to the pharmacist on time.
I advise everybody to avoid this place and go else way. Everybody working their should be ashamed of themselves.

I am surprised to read the negative reviews. We have been with Yew Tree Medical Centre for many years and only have praises for all doctors, admin and nursing staff. They have always gone over and above the call of duty to help. Thank you Dr Alex Webb for your recent prompt and brilliant help. We have only good wishes for this surgery who are doing a brilliant job against all odds in these extremely difficult times for general practice.

Absolutely disgusted by the way the appointmemts are given. I tryed multiple times to book an appointment for my 5 years old daughter who has an ongoing medical problem which is not urgent and will need further tests, investigations. I called at 8:00 sharp at least 2 times last week, all appoints gone, was advised to come at 8 to the surgery. I came today and was at Yew Tree surgery at 8.04 minutes and all appoimts gone!!! How is this even possible? The reason offered was that they have 6 surgeries and also telephone appoimtments. Now how is it possible that in 5 mimutes, even in 6 surgeries, so many appointments are booked so that you do not have any left

New system. Have been told not to queue at the door at 8am because I must use Patch’s. This is also advertised in a note on the surgery door along with ‘We are taking on new patients”. Unfortunately there’s a note on Patch’s saying, “This service isn’t working.” A long with ‘We are taking on new patients’.
I Go back to the surgery who still say, “Use Patch’s but we don’t have any appointments anyway.”
“So what do I do?”
“You call 111”.

After two years of this chaos I’ve reluctantly joined a private practice.

I've been with the surgery for several years, and generally they've been very good with myself and my husband.

The new appointments system is a frustration. There is no way to book an appointment with a receptionist for anything but the day you call, for any condition including routine monitoring. I suspect this has quite a lot to do with targets set regarding the amount of people being seen on the same day, so I can't see it changing. That said, people who cannot easily have time off during the day and cannot ensure a same-day appointment, but need a routine assessment, are disadvantaged by the inability to plan any appointments in advance. Edit - I got an appointment today - it required a nurse triage first, and when I got to the surgery, it appears you can book an appointment in the future once this has been done. And the GP I saw was really lovely. So it's a more roundabout process.

A second issue is the repeat prescriptions - I've not had so many issues with these before. Tried to order a repeat of thyroxine (thyroid hormone replacement) this morning, which is a medication I've been on for years, only to find I couldn't order this in the usual manner as it was due for review. Great, I haven't had my levels tested for a while - but nobody contacted me to arrange a review, and I need to be taking my regular dose in order to determine if any adjustments are required to it.

Criticisms aside, the great majority of the time, the doctors and surgery staff are fab here.

I'm always the first to defend healthcare workers and appreciate their hard work but I'd been with this surgery for about 20 years and have had so many problems which in the end made me never want to go to the doctors, when I really needed to. They dismiss symptoms, don't listen or try to get to the bottom of things, they just fob you off with medication without checking if it's right for you, they refer you to the wrong place and don't even bother to contact you with test results or follow ups. I've recently changed GP surgery and they've noticed and investigated things that Yew Tree never did. Yew Tree staff don't have bedside manner or any care for their patients, the receptionist is extremely rude no matter how polite and friendly I am. The young receptionists are great but the older one with dark hair is awful. I've seen them deliberately ignore the phone many times as well. No wonder people can't get appointments. Dr Kirby was always good to me but other than her I have nothing good to say about this place

This has to be the worst GP Surgery I’ve ever had the misfortune to have dealings with. I have reported them to the CQC TWICE due to their poor service. Dr Ladbrook has to be the most obtuse person I’ve ever spoken to. You have more chance of finding the holy grail than getting an appointment. They are happy to leave children in pain with UTIs which if left could cause Kidney damage. My daughter ended up in Heartlands last year due to this. When asked why they are one of the only GP Groups (GPS Healthcare) that will not open on a Saturday. Dr Ladbrook gives the impression that they are doing the patient’s a favour by finding Appointments. He said he can’t open Saturdays or work early or late night surgeries as they don’t have the staff or funding to do so. The £60k+ per year salary says otherwise!
