Honest review of cornerstones under NCG
I would like to start by saying that this is a very long and honest review (which is overall negative), before you join the company as a client (yourself), a family member of a client or a staff member I would suggest that you read this post. This post is on behalf of myself (a client), many other clients, families of clients, and staff.
This company is negligent. You will not be happy with the care (or lack of) from specifically management. You will be manipulated, mistreated, lied to and ignored. You will be made to feel like it’s your fault because “you’re deliberately being awkward” “we’re doing absolutely everything we can if you’re still not happy that’s nothing to do with us” “this is the best you’re going to get” and so many more things where said to me - this never enabled me only ever disabled.
Even before I moved in we had a number of issues including but not limited to:
being taken to Cambridge by a member of staff despite my mum saying I was tired and needed a short day, this staff member then lied about my location she also had her boyfriend in the car, management were hard to get told of to inform and when they were informed no actions were taken immediately and proof was requested before anything was actioned (this was because they believed the staff member over me and family members),
Communication was awful as whole- management would very rarely show up to the planned weekly meeting (due to them taking so long for me to be able to move in)
Once I finally moved in there was a “honeymoon phase” where everything was okay, this very quickly and drastically changed I didn’t feel safe or secure in the house- it never felt like a home.
I never knew if I was coming or going. I did find a few staff who made me feel safe (I took them with me when I left the company, they were all delighted to leave). Management knew these staff made me safe, knew these staff would fight to made me feel safe and give me a life worth living because management knew this so they took them away.
When they did try and stand up for me they got in trouble, anyone who try to fight to make clients life better would be reprimanded. Most of the time it was the staff that actually cared that would stand up for us, the majority of the clients can’t stand up for themselves so when someone tried to change things for the better they would get beaten down and made to feel small.
If you want a job where you don’t have to actually care and just just sit by watching disabled people get neglected then this is the perfect job for you.
If you are serious about wanting to made a difference and work in care look at jobs with Wiltshire CIL (centre for independent living)/ your local area or find someone who is doing direct payments you will get paid more, better and more flexible hours, a positive work environment, be able to choose who you work with, be respected, be listened to and appreciated- overall you will be happier and you will help enrich someone’s life and truly make a difference.
During my time there way too many safe guardings were made despite this nothing changed. Please if you are planning to join the company as a client, if you are the parent or family member of a potential client or thinking about joining as a staff member think very long and hard about what your getting yourself into. I would really recommend finding something else.
We haven’t officially made any complaint but after talking to someone from CQC they agree there are MANY major safe guarding issues and once the official complaint has been made action will be taken.

I would also like the add after reading the very defensive response- it took us months to arrange a meeting (the first email request a review was the end of august- the meeting happened at the end of December). After months of verbal manipulation and breaching clear boundaries including but not limited to; politely making my wishes clear that I would NOT feel comfortable with certain members of staff into my place of residence, but this being ignored.
Understandable after many events which were triggering and traumatic I did not feel comfortable with being in a confined office with people who I had lost trust in. Despite this I did it as management refused to make it more accessible for me (during the meeting I got extremely distressed)- in this meeting nothing was actively resolved. Promises were made, but when contacted to follow up we were met with either silence or more blame on me.
Management wanted another meeting in the office (to create care plans after it having to be raised with social services), but due to the distressed the previous interaction caused I made it clear I did not feel comfortable to do this. As someone with additional needs I should not be having to attempt to cater to their needs but as “the bigger person” I made the suggestion of doing it online. In person it was agreed but after sending three emails requesting for a date for the meeting to take place and having no reply we came to the conclusion that it was probably just easier for them to once again put the Blame on me.
As you can see in my previous review it got turned back around on to me. I had to put up with this for over a year, I am able to speak about it, there are many people who have no choice but to live with the neglect.

My daughter recently started working at a home in Accrington and what can I say , staff being left for hours on end without a break no official
Manager for first few weeks , so she hasn’t had any medication training or shadow training , staff feel Victimised , my daughter was asked today if she had a disability which is irrelevant and the manger should already know this .like any good manager would . Residents are forever running off as badly managed , support needs increased . Residents with little or no food . I’m actually disgusted confidentiality was also brought into play by manager as my daughter messaged me saying she been on her own for 8 hours and needed to go bathroom she wasn’t in a Whats app group or have a fob to leave to go toilet . Suzanne the manger should stop picking on young girls and should empower her staff to be better and support the individuals properly ensuring the people they are supported are looked after . There is so much more I can say and I’m thinking of going to safeguarding and CQC . I’m livid with the way people are treated at this residence . I wonder how the people being supported are treated to be behaving so inappropriately . I don’t think they deserve a one star .

Since they have took over my home they have been rude to both staff and patients. We have many issues in our home that still hasn't been seen to after many months. A lot of the staff has quit because of the disgrace in management. I really miss our home before NCG took over. They don't care about people with mental issues which is vital in being apart of a house for mental health.
