Regarded as an exemplar of Twentieth Century Modernism and a marker in public health, this 1938 Council Health Centre, still largely intact, precariously survives the vicissitudes of time and bureaucratic indecisiveness.
Berthold Lubetkin’s collaboration with “concrete specialist” Ove Arup is daring, functional, visionary and possibly unprecedented in the UK.
Recognition and Grade I Listed status apparently a limited endorsement with obvious external dilapidation and cursory maintenance evident here.
At best a vision of inclusive, all-embracing Socialist Utopianism before reality kicked it. At worst an inspiration for the “Dan Dare” comic strip.

Terrible.

The building looks like something out of a Russian horror movie from 1940, with receptionists to match.

Service is terrible. You can never get through by phone, and if you do - they will try their best to fob you off.

Doctor's notes & reports are delayed and avoided as a matter of principle, no reasons given, and once somebody responds (after like a 4 weeks delay) the answer is "sorry we don't do those".

Avoid. Go private. Costs a bit more but at least you keep your sanity.

Quickest and most painless blood test appointment I’ve ever had. The phlebotomist was great and the clinic was hygienic and speedy. Remember your blood test forms that your GP gave you! That’s your responsibility, not the clinic’s.

I would give 0 stars if I could - went to get a blood test for a pre-booked appointment and was told to call and visit my GP to get a blood test form. I’ve never had to experience this at any blood test facilities before or after Covid. Won’t be booking an appointment here again. Rude and uncooperative staff, shouting and acting unprofessional. I can see other reviews for this center agree on the same.

Just turned up for my blood test appointment. I rang the doorbell & the blonde receptionist looked annoyed & ignored me. I waited until people came out to enter - and she looked even more annoyed & continue to ignore me.
Eventually I asked for permission to speak & got seen ☹️

Require paperwork that other locations don't require. Unhelpful, uncooperative reception staff. Waste of time coming here for a blood test.
