Receptionists are awful, poorly mannered - not well trained and leave the phone ringing for 5 minutes plus without answering? Very strange and of course irritating when you’re sitting and waiting to be seen and nobody is bothering to answer a constantly ringing phone. To me, it’s just basic decency to answer, both for the person on the other side of the phone and for the people waiting in the GP listening to a loud irritating ringing sound. Receptionists seem incompetent and need to be trained on basic courtesy.

Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect. I’ve never had any problems with the receptionist ever since being a patent for about a year now.
I felt like I was being picked on and belittled by the blonde receptionist. I patiently waited 45 minutes later than my appointment time as the doctor was running late, I was holding back tears from being in shock with how I was treated, even the other patients waiting were commenting on how badly I was treated. I was nothing but polite and respectful and that was not reciprocated, maybe she was having a bad day but that shouldn’t leak onto how you treat other people. Highly disappointed and looking for a new doctor’s practice for my family and I won’t be going back there again. Maybe some training is needed!

My 1.5 year old son and I have been with this surgery for 2 years now and I couldn’t be happier with the service. The receptionists are always kind and helpful and the doctors and nurses are amazing. They really take their time with their patients and are always easy to get a hold of. On days of emergencies with my little one they have always done their best to get us seen. I’ve had bad experiences in the past with other places and I feel so lucky to have found this surgery!

The staff are so rude that I made my mind several times that I should change the surgery but the only thing hold me back is they always give appointments, the rest of the service is very bad. In one occasion my 3 year old son was moving around, the receptionist said "this is not the play ground". And today I had an appointment with an associate practitioner she had a cup in her table and I did not take buggy with my son, so I was explaining about my son situation, my son spilled the tea, she was so angry, literally I could see her red face and she said its not a play ground if you cannot handle a child you should bring buggy with you. I know my son spilled her tea but I never seen such a rude behavior before anywhere. My suggestion for "Sydenham House surgery " if you cannot run the surgery with good work ethics the shut it down".

On 12/1/24 I phone up surgery spoke to receptionist early morning hours requesting for sick leave following extremely high blood pressure and on medication.she said they will call me back when ready.But never responded back.
Costing unacceptable fares being vulnerable.Treating me like I did not exist.keeping my independance working rights is not respected with any urgency .

Extremely dissapointing. Dr Gohar himself is the most negligent, uncaring and unsupporting doctor. I avoid seeing him at all costs as he never takes anything seriously and doesn't take time in assessing anything that is wrong. He is more interested in rushing us off and saying we can't do this can't do that but if you go private you can. When I questioned him he point blank told me to change doctors. Extremely rude and takes advantage of people in a vulnerable situation. I always try and see another doctor at the surgery and avoid him at all costs as he misdiagnosed a family member who ended up in hospital for a lenghtly and serious condition. I was desperate so had to book him. The other doctors seem to always have some help and more importantly compassion and receptionists are lovely. I will never trust this doctor. Avoid doctor I Gohar.

In my opinion and from my experience, they are UNCARING, NEGLIGENT, RUDE, DISHONEST and ARROGANT. From not reading/actioning important letters and reports to mis filing (losing) medical records, unprofessional conduct and a complete disregard for health, even administering medication they are not supposed to apparently (by the doctors own admission)!! I appreciate people have limited options to choose so I would advise caution. Also make sure you get access to your electronic notes and check them regularly as the notes they write up following an interaction are basically fiction and support only the narrative they try to create and that's if they don't cancel your appointment because they just didn't want to talk to you.
