I tore my ACL in Austria and had surgery abroad. AbbeyFields medical centre have been so helpful and fast in arranging nurses appointments, providing me with the relevant prescriptions, and referring me to an orthopaedic specialist. The response time after sending a message to the GP surgery is so fast and efficient (mostly same day replies!) I’m very happy with the standard of care and help they have provided to me to aid my recovery.

Had a great experience here... I didn't get the lady's name but I'm a very nervous person when it comes to blood tests. When I walked into the room the lady asked how I was with blood tests and I said not great, she then gave me the option to sit or lay down and then explained what will happen and how many vials of blood she'll be taking. Unfortunately she didn't get blood the first time but asked if I'd like to continue or come back another day. I stayed and she tried again and got it and I had minimal discomfort. Immediately after she got me a glass of water and offered me biscuits. I'm usually embarrassed getting bloods done as I'm an adult and really nervous about getting it done. But I was made to feel really comfortable and she made sure I was okay before I left. I'm sorry I didn't get your name but it's the best blood test I've had 🙂

This doctors surgery is a shambles.
I went to the doctors 5 months ago about an ongoing issue with constant diarrhoea and wanted to understand what was going on, did a stool sample- I thought “great! Progress is being made!” Then got a phone call from reception stuff (not their fault here) saying that the sample had been mislabelled and therefore couldn’t be tested and needed to be redone, this was no issue for me because mistakes happen. I went into the surgery explaining what had happened, was about 2 weeks after the initial drop off by this point and was told by a more senior receptionist that it wasn’t mislabelled and it in fact hadn’t even been tested yet. Again, this isn’t on the reception staff here as they are just doing as they are told. I wasn’t contacted about the results, I had to get in contact with them to ask if anything was wrong, they told me no nothing was wrong. I then got in contact asking if I could have some sort of food allergen test / intolerance test to see if there was another reason or if my thyroid was acting up due to other family members having thyroid problems. Back in August, I went to the loo and only bright red blood came out, I was referred to the out of office surgery within the hospital, they found nothing on the initial exam. I also asked to be referred for a check for polyps as my mum has previously had some removed after having a bowel cancer scare, being a 26 year old woman I am worried that there is something wrong going on and I do not know about it.
I was denied these as when I had a blood test back in May, I was told that they tested for allergens- this is fine, if they have tested then so be it, the results are what they are. But not seeming to care about the blood and previous polyp history, I am truly disheartened at the results from all of this as it feels like they do not care, feels like they do not want to find anything wrong with me or refer me to a specific bowel doctor (unsure of the technical term). I feel truly forgotten about and I am worried about the amount of blood that came out.
Tempted to leave this doctors and register somewhere else that will act like they will give me the time of day.

Abbey Field Medical Centre appears to operate on a basis of actively wanting to worsen their patients' physical and mental wellbeing. Impolite and rude staff on the reception desk, incompetent handling of the simplest of situations, woeful communication, no leadership/management interested in addressing the multitude of issues the practice has. Avoid.

I just want to say that Abbey Fields and Hawthorne have been fantastic recently. I have received very prompt appointments and all the nurses, doctors and members of the admin team have been amazing at a really difficult time for me. Can't fault them.

Possibly the worst doctors surgery I have ever been to. One older lady on reception I’d probably say she’s in her 60s well her customer service is beyond shocking she is rude , extremely unhelpful and lacks any sort of empathy I really believe more training needs to be done as I would hate for vunrable people to deal with such hostility

I filled in the online triage form at around 7.30 this morning. Surgery rang me back at 8.30, GP appointment at 9.30, lovely doctor who listened and tested, then sent a prescription through to their pharmacy which i picked up at 9.40.... i know I'm lucky i can do it on line, but cannot fault that service today!

The admin staff at this surgery are frequently rude and unhelpful. They consistently try to shift the responsibility for simple administrative tasks on to the patient or hospital. On a number of occasions I have had to intervene on behalf of a vulnerable patient and explain their responsibilities to them as a GP practice. Not acceptable
