I’ve been coming here for years for routine checkups for an ongoing condition that needs managing/monitoring and every single time every single member of staff treats me with such care and kindness. It’s incredible. If I’m struggling to find parking they’re patient. If I’m lost in the building the staff are helpful. Whether it’s the nurse taking my blood or the doctors, they just all seem to really care. I’m so grateful because it makes the experience so much more manageable and so much less stressful 💕

Thank you

I would like to say thank you to the team in A & E and Acute Medical Unit for the care I received on 26 to 28 Jan. Everyone was courteous, polite and helpful. Waiting time was not excessive, we were kept informed of what was happening and given clear information. I received and observed a lot of kindness and caring and whilst I hope I have no reason to visit again, I would have every confidence in doing so. Thank you again

It saddens me to complain about a hospital as I know people work very hard there. I have been to Wytheshawe Hospital today to see my specialist. Great appointment until I went for blood test. There were about 50 people waiting and only I person taking bloods again. I had to wait 2 hours to do my bloods😢😢the nurse doing it was exhausted. This is the 3rd time and it’s so disappointing 😢😢

Attended for a major operation and my possessions weren't there when I woke up. I wanted to contact the people I love and work with and let them know I was ok. I was very distressed and still under the influence of the surgery sedation. I pressed the call button and was told my possessions were locked up somewhere that wasn't open until the morning (turned out to be a lie). The nurse who later came round to take blood pressure and temperature told me they were in a different ward and no one was available to retrieve them (could not be bothered). I literally had to beg another nurse who took pity on me and retrieved my bag. Not being bothered, fobbing me off and leaving it for the next shift became a common theme until I was able to get out of bed and walk for myself. Being well mannered and patient is viewed as not being serious enough for them to waste their time as I witnessed a man who shouted and threatened everyone had a nurse escort him to the front door for a cigarette upon request 24/7. My piece of advice if you are an inpatient here is to refuse to let nurses take your blood pressure and obs until your request is addressed - they will get questioned about it by their superiors and because it affects them I guarantee it will be taken care of.
Update: I copy/pasted the above review to the Wythenshaw hospital website and it was rejected. They claim that it is being used as the basis for me making a legal claim for compensation (!?) I never expected them to publish my negative review but to use such a strange reasoning is bizarre. For the record I'm not making a compensation claim and my name isn't Perilous Palms 🙂

Went to see my daughter, who had had a baby. Does not look great outside, but absolutely lovely maternity wards.
Staff are lovely and friendly, really pleasant place.

This is my second day visiting the hospital, and unfortunately, the experience has been highly disappointing. Due to a system outage, the staff is unable to accommodate clients for surgeries, even those with pre-booked appointments. This has caused significant delays and left many patients frustrated and waiting without clear communication or solutions. The level of service is unacceptably poor, with no contingency plans in place to manage such situations effectively. It’s frustrating to see such inefficiency in an environment where timely care is critical.
Not happy with the service.

This is the best hospital in the area. I've been under stepping hill heart failure clinic for 12 months they couldn't get my blood pressure under control but whyenshaw have sorted me out. I cannot praise the staff enough for the care I have been given.

My experience of Wythenshawe A and E was so traumatising that I still have flashbacks and hope I never have to set foot in the place again. There was a cabal of 3 nurses who seemed to do very little work and left me in agonising pain for over 6 hours. When one of them finally approached my bed and asked are you such and such it became clear that they had mixed up my notes with those of another patient. No apology was given but I was quickly sent for an X ray. Then the junior doctor tried to say the pain was arthritis. I knew it couldn't be that.

I had felt a distinct 'pop' in my back 3 days earlier and been in overwhelming pain ever since. When I got the discharge note the word 'fracture' had been crossed out in pencil. I then had a call from a consultant the following afternoon and he said the x-ray showed that I did in fact have a T12 spinal fracture.

So not only had the staff falsified my notes by crossing out 'fracture' on the first document they also had no insight into what someone in excruciating pain looks like. Even when I was bent double, as I couldn't straighten my spine at all, they just sat and sneered at me as I struggled to use the payphone to call a cab to get home. I was in the worst pain of my life and that's from someone who went through labour on just gas and air. A quick Google when I had recovered showed that a patient who cannot straighten their back probably has a fracture and you'd think a nurse would recognise this as a common symptom.

It took a long time to be able to walk properly again and then I had further complications which I am sure stem from the lack of care at Wythenshawe. I was preparing to make a formal complaint but then lockdown happened and I was concerned with relatives who needed care. I am still haunted by the appalling treatment from those three nurses, they were like a gang of mean school girls.

They were probably compassionate nurses if working alone but the group dynamic was clearly highly toxic. They obviously thought I was someone else which is why they got my notes mixed up but when they realised their mistake it was too late to row back and treat me any differently or have the humility to admit their error so they just carried on being appalling bullies, leaving me in agonising pain for six hours without even a jug of water and unable to walk to help myself.

Other departments in Wythenshawe might be fine but I would warn anyone to steer clear of the A and E unless there have been vast improvements in staff attitudes.
