I have always had an amazing experience with the team at the poplars. They have always answered my calls and been accommodating to suit my mental health requirements. I recently moved to Hampshire and I’m actually in the process of moving back because of how bad the mental health service is in Hampshire so I felt like I needed to write a review saying they are the reason I’m returning!

Appointments promised but letters never sent out. Shocking levels of professionalism from psychiatrists. Lost paperwork. Lack of any given care plan. No one seems to know what the other is supposed to be doing.

I understand the country is stretched beyond belief right now, but I do believe a lot of the psychiatrists (not all) who work at Poplars are the poorest ones available.

It really wouldn't surprise me if, in the future, Poplars hits mainstream with systemic failings due to poor quality of care for patients. The clock is ticking.

I'm not here to slag off the individual staff members, but the general level of NHS care at both primary and secondary level in my area is shockingly bad. It took 7 months for me to get an assessment at The Poplars. Now I'm on a 14 month waiting list for a limited number of therapy sessions.
Not fit for purpose. I pity the staff because I bet they get some serious abuse from unhappy mental illness sufferers.

Extremely poor service. Cancel appointments and/or care plan even when it's been required by a court. Not interested when a patient is posting self harm pics on social media and telling everyone they're going to kill themselves ( also while texting family members same). Police not interested in mental health, ambulance service will only intervene when patient has actually harmed themselves more seriously & if u ring a crisis team with your concerns they tell you to ring ambulance! Mental health services are an absolute joke 😡

I have the most fantastic care co-ordinator a girl could dream of, and the duty worker Sarah (when my care co is unavailable) is phenomenal. I had a bad experience for a care Co who wasn't working for me originally, and I requested a change which was done rather quickly and Sarah came with me to my medical appt and took so much time to look through my notes which meant SO much to me. When I was allocated my new care co, norma, she's there when I need her and really on top of her game, I'm seriously grateful for her and all she does for me. I also had my PT assessment here with Jade, who's also absolutely lovely, and it's nice to have validating humans that make you feel like you are important and not unimportant. Ive had several times I've had an emotional breakdown and I'm exceptionally grateful for their support.
The only major downside is the building is dated and in need of significant updating, sadly outside the control of those who work there. It would be nice to have more sensory equipment, comfortable sofas, lighting, and generic decoration to make it seem more warmer rather than much of the building looking institutionalised.
I'll be reaching out to the MP to see if there's a way we can come up with a plan as it's something even I'd love to help decorate whether it's from painting to supporting local charities and making it a comfortable space.
But that's the only negative so far. Everything else except my prev co has been brilliant. Thank you for being there for me in my times of need.

Laughable as always. If you have severe mental health issue don't even bother. I am glad to see this deplorable so called service benefits some but if you have severe mental health issues just walk to your coffin.
