Mum had her first day at Hopwa house in Hornchurch today. I dropped her off at 10am to be greeted by Kim who spoke to her as though she’d known her forever. Mum immediately felt at home. For me it was like taking your child to school on their first day. I was so nervous about leaving her, mums not a great mingler. I crept back in about 15 minutes from the end and had a little spy on mum. Oh my word, she was playing bingo and was so animated and talkative it was hard to believe. When I approached her to say we were going home she seemed disappointed and said she was hoping she was there for a weeks holiday. She was full of it on the drive home and for someone with dementia this is somewhat of a miracle in itself. She cannot wait to go back. Thank you to all involved.
