Awful place.. it’s really dirty in some of the rooms smells god awful and the deputy manager thinks it’s acceptable to lie and bluff her way through things. Leaving residents dirty and their surroundings absolutely disgusting. Leaving the elderly and most vulnerable to sit in their own filth. Not listening to families and all round just being sloppy with everything. Yes the staff are nice however that’s not all they need to be. They ask you to approach them with any concerns then they disregard them and you. Invalidate your words and twist things to suit themselves. Higher authorities have been contacted also.
The new manager made contact and stated that the issues have been addressed and resolved and has assured us the residents will be kept in better conditions from now moving forward.

My father spent his last 6 months at Highfield House, so I have very recent experience of the care they provide - he passed away in April 2022.
I realise they were short staffed at the time, but the care provided was first rate, they made Dad as comfortable as possible during his rapid decline.
I know Highfields is not a swanky, spacious, well equiped care home like some of the modern ones, but the staff more than make up for any material shortcomings.
My Mother has now been taken into Highfields, as her dementia has deteriorated sufficiently that she requires a more secure and caring environment, we had no hesitation in placing Mum in Highfields.

Very mixed feelings about this place. Home generally clean and tidy and the food was good. Care, well that's another matter. Most of the staff are caring but this was spoiled by three unpleasant individuals, one actually assaulting my late father (who could be difficult granted) and others dressing up a ghosts, going to his room late at night, trying to scare him to death presumably. Care commission and Police informed who immediately mounted an investigation, which is ongoing. One member of staff was dismissed immediately by management at Highfields. Very little by way of feedback or apology from Highfields. You need to do your homework before placing anyone in Highfields care home rather than wait until its too late as I sadly did. Oddly enough, dad was quite forgiving of the place so as I said, do your research and weigh up the pros and cons.

I do not have experience, nor do I have any family members residing at this establishment, however, I do feel the need to say my pieceon what I have read recently.
I am so aware of the bad comments in most of the reviews which have been written recently, I am not in a position to agree or disagree with anyone.
I only wish to say that I think it is admirable to learn that this care home has not suffered Covid with either the staff or its residents. Especially when all around us is failing miserably and having to close down and quarantine.
No it isn't great to hear that they are struggling to staff up adequately, however, the staff who are working there are doing a grand job. Try to think of the positive before dishing out the negative!! Something we are all too guilty of. Even the hardest of people have feelings.
I'm sure that the staff there are praying for things to get back to normal and not have to have the dreaded Covid on their minds while they carry out their duties. I also think that they are praying for better working conditions and to finally get more staff to help them in their stressful work loads.
Come on, it's Christmas yet again and a time for giving. A little cheer wouldn't go a miss here!!

I wrote an earlier review about this care home, written sincerely and honestly about my experience of the place. I urged readers to do their own research before placing their loved one in this or any other establishment but would draw your attention to the latest Care Quality Commission Report along with a report that appeared in the East Anglian Daily Times dated 16th February 2021. I was rather surprised to see a 5 star review appear dated on or around 27 April 2021 given that all other ratings are pretty abysmal. The writer of the 5 star reviews turns out to be the current Registered Manager of this care home although she fails to mention this in her review.
I leave google readers to draw their own conclusions.
Update. December 2021
Despite the somewhat generous review from someone who has had no experience of the care on offer at Highfield House, either personally or through a relative, I regret to report that this 'Care Home' has failed, yet again to meet the basic standards laid down by by the CQC. It is not, in my opinion a safe place to place a loved one in there final years and I am pleased that at least the CQC is professional enough to point this obvious fact out. Pity the local authority didn't take not and withdraw funding by sending vulnerable people here. A home that persistently fails to comply with the most basic conditions laid down by the Quality Care Commission should not receive public funding. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE PLACING ANY RELATIVE IN ANY CARE HOME PLEASE!
