Since moving to Altrincham 5 years ago I am very grateful to have had such an amazing doctor’s surgery. I have a chronic poorly understood illness and I have felt supported for the first time. They have been brilliant with my dad’s latter life care and been great with other members of my family. Through difficult times it has felt like we have a family doctor. Yes they are clearly busy but implement changes to try to meet the demand. All the staff we’ve dealt with are always polite and professional. It’s fantastic to have consistency with gp’s. I have had very different experience in Manchester and the midlands where the churn of locums, rude staff, queuing outside for appointments like herd of cattle. Given the current economic situation I feel very lucky to have found a good gp surgery.

This surgery is incredibly poor, bordering upon negligent. It is effectively impossible to make an appointment of any sort unless you call during an incredibly narrow window each day. To be clear, I'm not talking about urgent appointments, I'm talking about appointments of any type whatsoever, even if you're happy to see a doctor in a couple of weeks. I genuinely don't know how the people who designed such a policy can sleep at night, as it seems actively constructed to stop people from receiving medical advice, making it more likely that lesser issues will become more serious over time. If you have literally any choice at all, go elsewhere.

My husband was very poorly last September, in hospital 13days. We are with park medical and for some reason my husband was given an appointment at St John’s. Thank god he did. The doctor he saw had obviously read his notes. He is now on the 2 week pathway for prostate, liver scan ordered and another 3 lots of bloods. Thank you dr Evan’s

I had a badly swollen right toe and had an 08.40 appointment with a physio. She examined my toe and was very honest and said she was unsure about the cause and arranged for me to see a nurse.
I saw Joanne who examined the toe and said it was probably Gout and she prescribed Neproxen (and Omeprazole to protect stomach lining). She also advised me to book a blood test in 6 weeks and the results would confirm whether i do have gout.
Within a few hours of taken the first Neproxeb tablet pain was considerably reduced and after just 2 days the swellimg and rednees were almost gone.
I can only say that from my first phone call with a doctor, then seeing the physio and finally seeing Joanne...the process was very quick and the attention i got got was OUTSTANDING.and Joanne's caring and professional approach was exemplary.and the medication got the desired results....Well done once again St Johns

All my interactions with the medical and nursing team I have had in the last few years have been brilliant. The improvements they have made to connect us to digital services have really improved care, yet when you need to see a doctor face to face I have always been seen quickly. Today I have just seen the nurse practitioner Jo Pottinger and she was amazing. Thank you all very much

Just spoke to a lovely receptionist at St John’s which makes a difference from the stereotypical unhelpful receptionists you usually hear of GP surgeries! The lady was really helpful and understanding. I also had a great experience with Dr Long, she is an amazing and compassionate Doctor! Positive experience all round 🙂

Absolutely terrible service, getting an appointment is like gold dust if you’re not calling up on the dot at 8am along with about 50 other people and prepared to wait atleast an hour and a half to get through to the receptionist. Their AskMyGP service is awful, there opening times on the service are ‘8:00-8:20’ but they consistently shut the service at ‘8:03-8:04’ which means you’re unable to finish your request or book an appointment, on top of this they will mark your request as fulfilled or completed when no action has been taken, they are just trying to clear your name off of their system. I tried to book an appointment online and within one day they’ve said my request was dealt with and closed my request, I had no contact with anyone and my request had never been touched. Very disappointed and would love to see this place under new management as it’s been at this poor level for some time now.
