God help you if you ever need to see a doctor. Rang for my child who has an ongoing ear issue. We were told to call back if the issues continued. I have done that but apparently the lady who saw him originally has left and we now have to start the process all over again. Can't be offered an appointment so will have to rejoin the masses and take our pot luck ticket again at 8am. Total joke!
Eventually got an appointment through their Triage system. 1 week later. 14 year old Had to rely on multiple pain killers and anti inflammatory drugs for that time. Pharmacy confirmed a recurrence of ear infection in both ears but couldn't offer a prescription due to the ongoing issues with the doctors.
We found a tiny amount of ear drops from the last time and self treated to then be told off by the so called medical professional who hadn't got the time of day to see him.
Perhaps if you got your affairs in order people wouldn't need to take the risk!!!

I have to say, from my experience, I don't think this NHS doctors surgery is deserving of such a low Google rating.
If it wasn't for the outdated 'you must phone at exactly 8am' to get an appointment, this doctors surgery would easily be a 5 star service. I don't know why they don't just implement an online booking system, just like when you book a blood test?
It can't be that difficult or expensive to do so.
Anyway, the last two doctors I have met and conversed with have been nothing less than exemplary.
Thank you Dr Wilcox and Dr Onaolapo for your time and professional conduct.

Awful! Will be moving doctors!!

Appointment at 8.30, me and my ill partner was made to wait outside in the cold.

Partner got seen at 8.30 this morning. Came out latest 8.45 and sent to a chemist off site (they have their own chemist) and out of our way from home (we have a chemist just down the road where we live)

Chemist not received prescription. Tried to call general enquiries at the Lion Health as that was the only option that suited our needs but doesn’t open till 10, even though the practice opens at 8.30

Drive back to lion health to have the receptionist be extremely short and blunt with us. Her name is Melanie. RUDE!!!!!! She needs a new career or some major training!!!

Turns out the doctor my partner saw wasn’t a doctor who could send off prescriptions, had to wait for another doctor who was conveniently was in an emergency, and conveniently out of the emergency when I started playing my face. At this time it had been an hour since my partner had been prescribed and still not sent off!

Eventually it was sent to the chemist on site (why they couldn’t have done that in the first place) and at this point we had been waiting an hour and a half since the prescription!

Absolutely poor!! Never before have I seen such poor treatment, especially from a sector that’s meant to care.

I can honestly say that in the time that I have been registered at Lion Health surgery, I have always received kind, compassionate care and appropriate treatment from medical staff as well as administrative staff. Personally I have felt well looked after regarding my health.

Yes appointments are increasingly more difficult to get. Why?
Because NHS recruitment has been run down for well over a decade. As a consequence there are not enough medical staff available to meet greater demands of patients. Everyone is under pressure. This is a national problem. Think about which political party was in charge over that period and how lack of forward planning to recruit more staff is now affecting waiting times to get appointments and referrals.

When we project our frustration and anger onto staff who are doing their best to treat us, imagine the effect it has on them. Hardly surprising that doctors are leaving the profession in droves, taking early retirement or going part time. So, instead of blaming demoralised hardworking doctors and nurses, we should email our MP about our concerns and demand to know what the long term plans are regarding our NHS for the sake of our health and our kids' future health.

We could also try taking some responsibility for our health - like cutting down on highly calorific, over processed food and drink and get more exercise.

Rude receptionists,
I've been trying to get an appointment for 5 months regarding issues with birth control. I finally get an appointment 3 weeks in advance of call, to then receive a confirmation text for a smear only appointment and to cancel and to rearrange for any other reason.
The last appointment I had, the doctor took a personal phone call regarding their daughter buying a car, while I was still in the room asking for help with the same issue I have currently. They didn't examine me, despite my asking, and I have been trying ever since to get an appointment regarding the same issue.
This place is an absolute joke and completely dehumanising

All you've got to do is look at the overall rating, the worst doctors surgery ever. I've been given the wrong information by a doctor, which has been confimed by 2 different solicitors. I've then been asked completely irrelevant and inappropriate questions by an appointment maker which had no bearing on the end result.

I'll be moving surgery this place is a complete joke and has been for a long time. Wait times are horrendous, staff then don't know what they're talking about and then the doctors don't know what they're talking about in my case.

Needs shutting down before they start causing serious medical issues for people. Do not put yourself through it and go anywhere else... any place with a 2.1 rating from a lot of reviews needs to be inspected and shut down, something is clearly very wrong.

I've seen their CQC rating is requires improvement, I imagine it's got worse since that inspection took place.

It's very quick and easy to change surgery, I've already done it, barely took 10 minutes. Do yourself a favour, pay attention to the ratings and go anywhere else. CQC please inspect this place again, they are going to cause people real harm.

If you are patient enough to get an appointment you’d be staggered to see that the number of people in the surgery is far less than it used to be. This building has become an expensive white elephant, no available GPs but plenty of space.

Sharing my experience: Called at 8am precisely for an appointment, 57 minutes on hold to be told "Sorry sir there are no appointments are available". I guess you forgot to add "...all of our doctors have left". 2 days in a row now.

Lion health you are a disgraceful, negligent shambles of a practice.
