I had the privilege of giving birth via C-section at Basildon University Hospital on January 14th, and I cannot thank the Maternity Unit team enough for their exceptional care and dedication throughout the entire process. From start to finish, I felt supported, reassured, and truly cared for.

The surgical team, in particular, stood out to me. Their professionalism and calm demeanor made all the difference. They were so positive and confident, which gave me a sense of peace and trust in their hands. I could feel their energy, and it really helped me stay calm and positive throughout the procedure.

The entire experience, from the moment I arrived to post-surgery care, was seamless and comforting. Every staff member I encountered, from the midwives to the nurses and doctors, was kind, empathetic, and attentive to both my needs and the needs of my baby. Their commitment to making me feel safe and cared for truly shone through.

Thank you so much to everyone in the Maternity Unit. Your professionalism, kindness, and care meant the world to me and my family. I will forever be grateful for making what could have been a stressful experience feel so much more manageable and positive.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Basildon Hospital’s birthing unit, especially to Cedar Ward and the doctor consultants in the antenatal clinic. I am incredibly thankful to midwives Grace and Natalie, who were instrumental in delivering my baby and providing exceptional care for both of us. I also want to extend my appreciation to all the staff, midwives, and doctors involved in my care.

Throughout my pregnancy, my baby measured on the larger side, so I required additional scans and appointments with consultants. They recommended an induction, ensuring a natural birth would be a safer option for me. I was induced at 38+2 weeks and delivered at 38+4 weeks. As a first-time mom, I was naturally a bit nervous, but the entire induction process was handled with such professionalism and empathy. The staff took the time to check in with me regularly, patiently answered all my questions, and respected my birth plan and preferences. Their kindness and support made the entire experience smooth and positive.

Thank you again to the most amazing staff in the maternity unit for making my experience so wonderful. I couldn’t be happier with the care I received.

I visited Basildon Hospital two days ago, where I was diagnosed with bacterial gastroenteritis. The doctor advised me to return if my symptoms persisted after two days, or if the pain continued. When I returned today, the receptionist told me I should go to the GP instead, as it was what the doctor had recommended. She wouldn't even let me speak, repeatedly saying that if I complained, I wouldn't be seen until 2 PM because there was a 7-hour wait list. When I asked why, her response was that it was winter and the doctors were very busy. I explained that it didn't make sense that a hospital wouldn't be prepared for the winter season and that my condition wasn't just a simple cold, as I might be dehydrated due to the lack of energy and ongoing diarrhea. However, she dismissed my concerns, telling me again that the best thing was to follow the doctor's advice and go to the GP.

I pointed out that it was already 4 AM, and the GP was closed, which is why I had come to the hospital. Rather than listening to my situation, she seemed more focused on getting rid of me by repeating the same information. I left the hospital in severe pain, feeling completely disregarded.

The customer service was extremely poor, and the treatment was disappointing and unhelpful. It was clear that the receptionist was not interested in providing support or understanding the urgency of my condition. This experience was frustrating and upsetting, and I hope the hospital takes steps to improve how patients are treated in the future.

Was at the endoscopy unit yesterday for two tests. Could not fault the service. Staff were great, put me at ease and I was really looked after. From being admitted to getting home was two and a half hours!! Thankyou.

I am extremely disappointed with the service at this hospital. I brought my sister to the emergency department because she was in severe pain, and instead of receiving prompt attention, we were made to wait for hours without any care or updates. It was heartbreaking to see her suffer while the staff seemed indifferent to the urgency of her condition.

The lack of communication and efficiency in the emergency department is unacceptable. If this is how emergencies are handled here, I shudder to think about the level of care patients receive overall. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone seeking urgent medical attention.

I had an outpatient appointment booked for 11:45 today, but my experience getting there was very stressful. I spent 45 minutes searching for parking in the surrounding areas and private parking sites, but I couldn’t find an available space. Eventually, I was left with no choice but to park in a disabled bay, even though I am not disabled. I feel deeply upset and regretful about this, but I couldn’t risk missing this appointment after waiting over a year for it. I’ll have to deal with the fine when it arrives, but I hope to never be in such a position again.

It’s disappointing that there is no system in place to coordinate traffic or display available parking spaces, as I can imagine this leading to missed appointments or delays for clinics. I strongly recommend including information about parking options in appointment letters or via text reminders. This would help patients plan better and reduce unnecessary stress.

I tried calling the department to inform them I was running late and to ask if my appointment could start later, but I couldn’t get through. Fortunately, when I arrived, someone ahead of me took longer than expected, so I was only 8 minutes late and still eligible to be seen.

However, this experience has left me feeling awful, especially knowing I took a parking spot that may have been needed by someone disabled. I hope future patients don’t face the same difficulties and that steps are taken to improve parking communication and coordination.

Absolutely terrible hospital, will do absolutely nothing and argue with you to get out of acting like they are a hospital. 111 sends you here for them to do absolutely nothing. All staff have an arrogant attitude which is surprising as they never help anyone on purpose so is no reason to be so argumentative or useless
