Appointment requested. Same day appointment given. GP Dr. Wraight was very thorough and very kind. He arranged Hospital checks which were expedited very quickly. Dr. Wright phoned me within a week to follow up. The service from my GP was excellent, also the services I received from the Phlebotomy and Scan departments at St. Richard's hospital. Thank you all very, very much. I am very grateful.

After a struggle to get an appointment I was seen by Paul Galea who took the time to listen to my medical history. He also researched my past medical records which was helpful for him to understand my constant pain. He suggested an X-ray and I am currently waiting for a date. I am truly grateful to him as I have become totally housebound and deeply depressed.

I thought my appointment was tomorrow and Dr Whiting very kindly phoned me to see where I was. She arranged to see me later that afternoon which would have meant she finished work later.
Also I was nervous about the appointment and probably would not have rebooked it if she had not phoned.

The reason for my consultation was discussed in full and explained in terms I could understand. Further investigations were booked in the consultation. The waiting time for these appointments are reasonable. The Doctor was very approachable and at no time did I feel there was a time constraint.

I personally do understand that some patients issues are are difficult to address in the NHS allotted appointment time, so although my appointment was not on time I was not bothered by this.
Have always had very good experience with the Cathedral Medical Group Practice.

Before I start ranting I do want to give this place a little credit so this doesn't seem biased: if you are one of the lucky few who gets a decent doctor/GP then I do want you to know that they will genuinely listen and try to help you. Unfortunately the chances of this is maybe 1:100, or 1 in however many people work there. Please bare that in mind as I now complain endlessly.

First off: The phone queues are always ridiculously long no matter what time you ring. I don't know what the reason is and frankly I just don't care anymore.

Second off: Some of the staff are very unprofessional, one of the Asthma nurses refuses to listen while repeating herself and the same point 50 times. It honestly feels like talking to a brick wall, and eventually you end up zoning out because of how much she talks and repeats the same thing. I appreciate being thorough and would usually applaud someone for this... if they were actually making a point instead of being useless and just saying the same thing over and over because they love the sound of their own voice.

On that note its as if some of the doctors are deaf to what you want/don't want, or even expect you to keep count of how often you're using certain medications. Its almost as if they're just trying to annoy you into doing what they want even when you're adamant that the answer is no. There's a very clear lack of respect from the majority of people there.

Finally: Repeat prescriptions often have notes ignored or send the wrong things/things you didn't answer. I'm mostly lucky in that I usually get the correct thing but there are often things missing. There's only ever excuses but if I'm asking for something then I'm asking for a reason. I shouldn't have to jump through 50 hoops just to get whats on my prescription.

I have been with this surgery since I was a child and I can count the number of good doctors I've ever had in that time on 1 hand, for those curious, its 2 and one of them left back when the pandemic started.

I'd give this 0 if I could but unfortunately thats not an option, so 1 star for Cathedral Medical Group. First time I've ever actually written a Google review for something because thats how fed up of this place I am. Hopefully there are better options in the area.
