I had my first smear with Catherine, the practice nurse, and this is something I'm pretty ashamed to admit, I have been avoiding it for years. Catherine was so lovely and professional; she made an uncomfortable procedure as comfortable as possible. If there are any Lostock Medical patients reading this who are putting it off, please don't!

I have always found this practice really helpful, they were really thorough with some health investigations I needed and made the appropriate onward referral in a timely manner and kept me posted all the way. I found it really helpful that you don’t necessarily have to see a GP. You can see a practice nurse or the paramedic who can support you with many things a Dr could. I work for the NHS myself. I know how hard this can be with pressures, staffing and lack of resources, but in my experience I would recommend this practice.

Booked in with Dr Archer, the only GP I trust in this place. Arrived for my appointment to be told i was seeing a different person. And oh by the way Dr archer doesn't work on a Tuesday?!? OK so why did you book me in on a Tuesday then a few weeks ago

Reception lady mentioned it would likely be a phone call from doctor archer, which is all that's available, OK but how is he going to take bloods over the phone?!

She repeated herself 4 times, in response to OK book me in with Dr archer for a future date, kept telling me it would be only a phone call. So I walked out.

I await your phone call. I don't have time for your short comings.

Absolutely awful experience since joining a few months back.
So far between 4 of us we have only ever seen a Paramedic, never a GP, about 10 appointments in total.
And waiting 30 plus minutes seems to be the norm, how is this acceptable?

Got to meet Dr Archer once. He's actually a very good Dr. The nurses are good. I changed from 1 star to 4 stars because of this. However, their appointment system is rubbish. As you stand in the queue to make an appoinment, the staff are answering calls and taking slots. When you do try and call, you are in a queue, even if you try and call every second from opening time.

I made a phone call at 23/11/23 Thursday 16:05 to Lostock
Medical Practice to see if I could see a nurse for a B12 injection as I am supposed to have them every 3 months.
When I spoke to the girl at the reception she told me that I didn’t need an appointment it was a walk-in. I asked if she was sure that you could just walk in without an appointment and she said yes, I asked if I would get to see a nurse. She no it would be a GP I asked which GP? and she replied who ever is available. I said are you sure? She replied yes just come in any time.
I said thank you for your assistance and ended the call.
So Friday 24/11/2023 I cancelled some appointments and attended the surgery at 13:05 I asked about seeing a GP today the first girl politely said that all the GPs were out on visits and we don’t have any walk-ins. I explained to her that this is what I was told yesterday on the phone by the receptionist. She then went over to another boy/girl who verbally addressed me face-to-face in a rude and aggressive tone. She kept talking over me and would not allow me to finish my sentence. I felt extremely uncomfortable and threatened I even showed her proof of what time the call at 4:05 pm was made as it shows on your contacts. I wanted to know how many people were on duty Thursday at 16:05 she shouted I don’t know there are seven desks and she doesn’t know their names.
However, the person kept addressing me with a dark undertone which made me feel extremely scared colourful language was used which the receptionists repeated back the receptionists stood up waving her hands aggressively and used the same colourful word back to me.
I left before telling her that I would be putting in a complaint.

2 weeks and 5 chases for a doctors note, and the story changes every time. It's unacceptable.

When you do finally get through to the surgery, it’s not so bad, but I’m writing this review whilst on hold ‘trying’ to speak to someone. I started at queue position number 8, it’s 1 hour and 20 mins in, and I’m at position number 3! That’s 80 minutes to answer just 5 calls. I’d say they’re either under staffed or couldn’t care less… still trying to make my mind up which? I’m guessing that when I do finally get through, there won’t be any appointments left… and it’ll be the same merry go round tomorrow. If you’re looking for a decent service from a GP, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. Sadly.

UPDATE: 90 mins on hold, and got through to what can only be described as a militant receptionist, who, guess what, asked me to try again tomorrow. As per previous reviews, this GP shouldn’t be allowed to operate to such abysmal standards, they’re not fit for purpose. I have previously complained about the lack of service, but guess what, the practice manager, a lady called Caroline Scott, only works part time!!! This is terrible considering the average salary at this practice is £110k per year! Check their website, it’s all there.
