My first visit to CHEC this morning, fantastic service. I was seen on time, the clinician was extremely pleasant and explained everything to me. I was made comfortable and didn’t feel at all rushed. Overall a positive experience, happy customer.

Pointless referral which should have been directly back to the hospital.
They have no access to medical records. No better than an average optician.
Is this just a scam to make NHS waiting lists look better... it certainly feels that way.
I hope local GP surgery reads this and in future does the right thing for the patients as this certainly wasn't.
In all 4 months of wasted time and pain.

Had an appointment booked for twelve weeks And then they phone up and cancelled on the day Telling me they were unable to see me.And perform the eye operation. And just told me to recontact the opticians and get them to do another referral. As there was nothing they could do for me in the foreseeable future.

The place felt and looked very unclean and I felt very rushed during the appointment. I have been referred to the eye hospital as they didn't have the time to assess me properly as I have sensitive eyes. I will not be returning.

Not very impressed , very small cramped cubicle with no door no privacy ,l could hear the lady before me and her conversation. The space for two technicians , a patient and the equipment with a very uncomfortable chair was extremely limited. Was not impressed by being given what looked liked a well used tissue to put round one lens of my glasses for the field test. It was definitely not clean or fit for purpose as it hung down my cheek and hampered my concentration. The attitude of the staff was totally uninterested , another person to be tested “boring “ but lets get it done and go home.

The clinician I saw had a very poor standard of English, making them very difficult to understand.
I have a potentially serious issue with the macular of one eye, and I was very surprised when, during the examination, they asked me if they were examining the correct eye? I asked her if it wasn't obvious?
I am also very short sighted, with a prescription of nearly -10, and was shocked at the end of the visit to be asked if I was short sighted?
My initial written complaint was met with a slow response, which attempted to sweep the problem under the carpet. When I rejected it I was eventually contacted by an excellent CHEC supervisor, who arranged for a re-visit with a consultant.
However, I subsequently cancelled this appointment, as I no longer have trust in CHEC. I have sought private medical care with an excellent Opthalmologist, who is taking prompt action to monitor potential deterioration in my sight.
I won't be visiting CHEC again.

The attitude of the clinician was not nice, although i was the last one in the clinic but i felt she was in a hurry and took her less than 7 minutes to check my eye, i felt i was pushed to leave very quickly . No return to this place

First and last visit to CHEC Christchurch. Attended for a procedure following initial assessment at another CHEC clinic. The clinician contradicted everything agreed at the referral clinic and declined to carry out the procedure. This is of course his professional decision but what a waste of NHS funding and my time. The lack of clinical consistency between CHEC clinics was also concerning.
In terms of professionalism - he appeared uninterested in any verbal history and appeared to have already made his clinical decision at the start of the appointment. Combined with a combative approach, the appointment was rather distressing.
