A really great experience today. My first Gastroscopy and I was very nervous. The staff and nurses were friendly and excellent, the procedure and info well explained. The procedure itself was a LOT easier than I thought and very quick. Did not hurt at all, no discomfort either. Up to date technology. As intrusive as having a quick tooth filling, easy, nothing to worry about.....

Mixed feelings after my endoscopy procedure on 26 June. Reception 5☆, all nurses 5☆, doctor 1☆ because he couldn't even be bothered to look up from his phone when I went into the examination room when I went in. Nor did he introduce himself or explain what was going to happen and in fact he didn't speak a single word to me, it was all left to the brilliant nurses. Nowhere near good enough imho. I just had a local anaesthetic but wish I'd opted for sedation because he was quite rough too and I was a bit sore the next day. On a more positive note, I got the results within minutes which was amazing.

Extremely friendly staff who are always concerned about the patients. Even though it was my first endoscopy, they always made me feel comfortable and explained everything. There's no doubt that their comfort made me feel more relaxed and made the procedure better. I highly recommend them.

I was dreading this so much but it couldn’t have gone better.
All staff were so kind and understanding. Deborah who took all my details and blood presssure etc was so kind. The lady who put my catheter in was perfect. Sue the other nurse was really kind and the final nurse, I think Lateisha, was wondeful too. The doctor was pleasant and professional.

What a great team you have- I felt understood and well cared for.

Thank you so much. ♥️

If I could give no stars I would. Yesterday I came away distraught.
I had the feeling from the staff that my Gastrophy procedure was unnessary, and thought the nurse who first took my details to be extremely rude. Looking through her records, she could see that I had suffered from a Hiatus Hernia before, and actually asked me then and there if I wanted to go home without having the procedure!!! I must admit that was very confused.

I was advised by my own G.P. on to have another gastrophy, because my symptoms had become intolerable, to the point of me being sick after nearly every meal, plus pains in my chest which were so bad, I thought I was suffering a heart attack, and therefore she thought that my stomach ulcer had returned. I mean, who would go through with such an awful procedure, if they didn't need to.

The first nurse never gave me a chance to explain all this, and kept interupping me all the time. At that point I just gave up; was confused, and felt uncomfortable in the situation I was facing.
Even though I am on two Omepazole tablets morning and night I am still suffering from a hiatus hernia and may opt for surgery as I cannot go on like this.

I was given sedation, which went well, but I could plainly hear the first nurse discussing my symptoms to the person who was administering the gastrophy. Again, I felt that I was wasting their time.

Once inside, I must admit that there was a really lovely nurse/Consultant, who made me feel completely different. She introduced me to everybody; had a calming affect on me, gave instructions well, and I appreciated her warmth.
I hope she gets to read this review. (She was the lovely lady who came back with my glasses, as I had left them behind).
Once in the recovery room I was just left alone to phone my husband. And that was it. No cup of tea. No biscuit. Just left alone to walk out with another nurse.

I would like to add that the professionals who I saw before this were absolutely brilliant. I have been four or five times (due to a stomach ulcer).

I wish hospitals/clinics could just stick to the same staff. If I ever have anything urgent again I will have to go somewhere else
