I absolutely loved our course with Laura! Giving birth isn’t something I have been frightened about, however the thought of going into an unfamiliar environment and not knowing what to expect was making me very anxious. Laura really tailored our course to suit the information that I needed which has given me so much confidence and dare I say I am looking forward to the magical experience that is child birth So many people have asked me about what the course entailed since attending and they have all said they wish they knew things that I now do when having their children! Do not hesitate and get booked on!!

Laura is really friendly and personable. She has a great way of explaining things and is happy to enter into discussions and idea sharing as well. She’s passionate about all things birth which is contagious and hope to work with her again in the future.

I’ve always been an anxious person. IBS, cold sores and mind blanks have followed me throughout my life from competing on my horses to exams. Basically I don’t deal well with stress. My way of coping with stress has always been to over prepare ie revising 5am - 10pm when I was at uni and learning presentations for work off by heart. Winging it has never been an option for me.

As long as I can remember, I’ve had a fearful fascination with birth - having watched people give birth in films/tv shows and heard women just brain dump their traumatic birth stories into conversations, my thoughts on the subject have been - birth is awful and the worst ā€˜pain’ you’ll ever experience.

Finding out I was pregnant I knew I needed to take hold of this fear, like I do with anything that scares me, and over prepare. I’d heard a few people mention they’d listened to hypnobirthing tracks or read book on Hypnobirthing, and I thought ā€˜this sounds like something that could help me’.

I found Laura after a quick Google search, and a few days later we were having our first phone call. She immediately made me feel confident that this was going to ease my classic anxious response to stressful situations, and also the fact Laura was a wonderfully kind person.

Our sessions with Laura were brilliant. We opted for 121 sessions, that were based in her home and we felt totally at ease with her from the word go. My husband (Alex) and I found the sessions so informative, from learning what the body is doing during labour and how to rethink the whole idea of pain. It didn’t seem scary any more. Laura made labour sound natural and achievable. After just 3 sessions… 1) All our fears and worries had been shared between us, which made us stronger as a team. 2) We had reframed what birth was like to us 3) I’d created a toolkit to help me prepare for the following months leading up to birth and the big day.

After a fantastic pregnancy, and feeling so calm and ready. I was 2 weeks overdue in the end, despite trying every induction trick in the book! My contractions started naturally at 2:45am the day we’d been booked in for induction, so at 10am we were in hospital about to start our induction that had been booked in by our midwife the day before. Our experience wasn’t easy, a few scares with baby saw everything happen a lot quicker than expected. However, after all our sessions with Laura we had a good knowledge on everything that happened to us, and what to expect with each curve ball thrown at us. We had it all - they broke my waters, I was hooked up to an oxytocin drip for induction, I laboured to 7cm on gas and air (something that we both enjoyed so much due to the tools that I’d put in place), had an epidural, dilated to 10cm and pushed, ended up being taken in from grade 1 c-section and sadly during surgery they damaged my bladder leaving with me with a catheter for 2 weeks.

Throughout the entire day, Alex commented on how calm I remained despite some pretty big curve balls being thrown our way. And I’d like to thank Laura for this. I’ve been known in the past to go into ā€˜headless chicken’ panic mode when things don’t go to plan. Despite some of the most scariest moments of my life happened that day, I remained calm throughout, yes emotions were there, but I was able to avoid panic and understand/ experience every challenge thrown our way.

An eventful time to say the least, but no birth trauma. We look back on the day with found memories. Labour wasn’t scary and I actually enjoyed it. Having a c-section isn’t a failure or something to fear. Laura made it possible for me to my best self for the birth of our daughter.

I can’t recommend Laura enough, she has been life changing for me and without her, I honestly don’t know what state I’d have been in or even how I’d be now 5 weeks after birth. Thank you Laura, you are totally incredible.

Can’t recommend Laura and her hypnobirthing course enough! We booked her Nov 23 group course around the start of my second trimester when we first started looking into hypnobirthing. By the time the course came round we’d done quite a lot of reading and wondered if it was going to be worth it for us… it absolutely was! The practical way Laura teaches really helped us understand what tools would work for us as a couple and plan how to use these. She gave so many practical tips that we’d never thought of or had the confidence to implement without her encouragement. We really enjoyed being part of the group course - usually I find group activities a bit awkward and not very useful, but the way these were planned meant we got so much out of them and they really encouraged us to critically engage with the course content. The balanced way Laura teaches and talks you through the science of labour and birth really helped us to come to our own conclusion about the type of birth we want and where this should be, and how we can practically plan for the type of birth that feels right for us (as well as creating positive and informed alternative plans in case they are needed). We came away from the course feeling extremely positive and confident about birth and how we will work as a team whatever the scenario, and we’re so very grateful to Laura for all of this. Thank you for empowering us with so much knowledge and confidence Laura!

I cannot recommend Laura’s hypnobirthing course enough! She is a wonderful teacher with lots of knowledge. I went to see her as someone who was absolutely terrified of labour and birth and I came away feeling more confident, prepared and in control of my own labour. I would definitely give more than 5 stars if I could!

hypnobirthing at the Happy Little Nest is, without doubt, a non-negotiable. I was unsure about hypnobirthing and potentially a little bit sceptical prior to our course, however Laura instantly, and quite easily, brought down my questioning walls. A combination of personal experiences, useful techniques and science, soon reassured me that this course was perfect for my wife and I. Laura made us both feel so comfortable, even when it came to exploring the uncomfortable topics. She struck a wonderful balance between presenting information and conveying a wonderful sense of humour. She really made us feel that we are the priority during our pregnancy and has provided us with a practical and metaphorical toolkit which I know will be invaluable when the time comes to meeting our baby girl. We can’t thank you enough The Happy Little Nest!

I initially got in touch with Laura as I was keen to learn more about hypnobirthing. I had done some of my own research but felt I needed an expert and Laura certainly knows her stuff.
I was also not confident in my decision for who I wanted as my birth partner and knew both my mum and partner would benefit from the knowledge of hypnobirth. We had private sessions and because of Laura’s knowledge and passion this has now brought much needed confidence to my partner and he is now fully on board for us to go through this incredible birth experience together.
Laura is a breath of fresh air. I love her passion and is such a warm hearted person. She made the whole course enjoyable and at the same time extremely informative.
I feel very positive about my birth journey ahead thanks to Laura and feel I have support from Laura leading up to the birth and post birth which also brings comfort.
I would honestly recommend Laura to anyone and everyone. Hypnobirthing needs more of a platform for sure!
