Stuart is a very knowledgeable and professional councillor. I found his approach highly effective and time efficient. He will give you the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with your struggles self sufficiently using a logical, yet still warm and empathetic approach. From our first meeting I had a huge amount of faith in him and trusted his judgement and experience. Whilst his sessions are not easy, and often require a lot of energy he will ensure that if you are motivated you will improve. Could not recommend more highly. Plus, I have been told that he is very handy at snooker.

Stuart helped me find a way of making my life meaningful again after I had gone through a period of intense anger, grief and anxiety. It is several months since my last appointment, the writing of this review having been put on hold due to having undergone a major operation shortly after the psychotherapy sessions ended. During my period of recovery from my operation, I have continued to put much of what I learned from Stuart into practice, most importantly, focusing on my values and maintaining a daily routine. I have found this invaluable, particularly as life has continued to present me with massive challenges. I feel now that I have a set of tools with which to navigate the fallout from even the most difficult occurrences. I will always be grateful to Stuart for the part he has played in my recovery and would recommend him wholeheartedly as a psychologist.

Stuart has been so helpful - he and his team are clearly passionate and knowledgeable about what they do as well as being extremely supportive. Great online services and the availability to have face to face appointments quickly too if preferred. I would highly recommend the counsellors and psychologists here to anyone having trouble with their mood or anxiety or past experiences - or whatever they might need support with. The benefits are invaluable - well worth talking to the team to see how they can help with whatever is needed. Can’t stress this enough if you are reading this there is a gods chance they can help - so call them now!

I saw Stuart online when I was going through a period of stress and grief. I found him to be incredibly helpful, with a deep understanding of the problems I was dealing with and an obvious depth of experience as a psychologist. I’d recommend anyone going through any difficulties should get in touch with Stuart and his team.

I worked with Stuart after previously having no success with EMDR and CBT therapy. I found his approach worked for me and I am in a much better place following several sessions with him. I can recommend anyone struggling with PTSD, Anxiety or Depression who hasn't found anything that worked for them to work with Stuart.

Stuart enabled me to explore the reasons why I stressed at night. We explored past and present memories that kept me awake and helped me to understand the brain and how to switch off. Stuart is very skilled at getting to the route of the problem.

To be clear, the Doctor I was assigned to was an extremely lovely person and I came away from the sessions with a sense of catharsis and fulfilment. However, I feel this should be the bare minimum you would expect from private councelling. If this was a public/NHS service I would not be leaving such a negative review.

My issue;

I had three sessions booked over Zoom at £100 per 50 mins. The first session was good and without issue.

However, on the day of the second session I got a text asking if we could rearrange the appointment by 30 mins. Under different circumstances I would not consider this to be a problem, but at such a high cost I was surprised. When I joined the Zoom appointment it was made clear to me that my Doctor was on holiday abroad in a holiday home. Half way through the session a friend/family member could be heard in the room off camera. As you might imagine I stopped talking about my personal circumstances when it became clear we were not alone. To be frank I was shocked at the lack of privacy, especially considering the context.

Despite my shock I was willing to give the Doctor the benefit of the doubt and arranged a third session, but on the day of the appointment I got another text asking to rearrange by 30 mins. This time I just cancelled and asked for my money back. The Doctor obliged and returned my money very quickly.

I hate leaving negative reviews but I've chosen to do it here for two reasons. Firstly, because all the Google reviews are positive and I just wanted to give a fair representation that not all experiences with Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling are wholly positive. Secondly, £100 per 50 mins (£2 per min) is very expensive for someone like me. I have never spent so much money on a service with such a high cost per minute.

I feel that if you spent £100 on a haircut, for example, you would be seen at the time you booked everytime. To be blunt, think of it like this; I was expecting the Ritz but ended up at a Holiday Inn. Good, but not worth the price.

I need help. It was a big deal for me to seek help. I intend to seek help elsewhere.

UPDATE: I was contacted by the Lead Clinician (Dr Sadler) and he refunded both sessions, which I greatly appreciate.

I don't live in newcastle but a friend recommended Stuart because they said he'd helped them when they were suffering from depression last year. I'd been suffering with stress and anxiety over my job on and off and seen counsellors before but Stuart really helped... Will recommend.
