Have not been to Doctor's for some time, 5 years+. Wanted to make an appointment to see a Doctor so I attended in person as I live nearby, I was told they cannot make an appointment face to face; I need to go home and it needs to be done online?!! The online triage system is also being changed to a different system in 10 days I was told.....I am in total and utter disbelief at such a system and surgery devoid of any focus towards service and care; it is completely and utterly unacceptable how this Surgery is being run and I am hopeful of registering elsewhere. How did we get into this Orwellian state?

I have a nasty chest infection so
I filled out the new anima form. Although it isn’t the easiest to use- just change up your answers till you get through, it kept telling me to dial 999 or go to a&e- not necessary.
I don’t believe the online system is directly the practices issue.

I was called by the Doctor within 10 mins of me submitting my form. I am so impressed, the Doctor (I don’t know his name) was super polite & helpful in prescribing me antibiotics and answering my questions. Really pleased with my experience today.

I have been with St James medical centre for close on 50 years. In recent months their patient care has all but ceased. They used to use the My GP app where you could book appointments or submit an e consult form. They have recently gone over to a new system called Anima which is worse than useless. When you log on you get taken through various portals where you have to keep logging on. Once you have negotiated this challenge the system offers zero help you are not able to book an appointment or even send an electronic communication if it is deemed they are too busy! As I say worse than useless meaning either you go to A&E or die waiting. And don’t even try to get through on the phone. The website says they are taking on new patients lol.

Get rid of anima please, I work nights so I am never awake when this anima is live. It doesn't work for everybody. People who work nights statistically have poorer health, yes because we can’t get appointments like everyone else and anima is just making it worse.

Edit in reply; anima is open from 8am to 4pm, the surgery closes at 18:30. I have requested evening appointments, I never get one, thanks.

After nigh on 20 years with St James, when I needed them most, their so-called 'helpline' proved no help at all. After being prescribed a life-changing tablet, they turned into Woolworth's, where it was always somebody else's counter when asking for help. After writing to their dismissive Practice Manager for help with my new supply, she responded 2 weeks later by saying she hadn't understood my letter and was now going on holiday!! As a full-time writer, and dependent on those tablets to stave off strokes and heart attacks, it was the most stressful and aggravating time. Sadly, customer service is at an all-time low at St James and I've registered elsewhere.

I have to agree with everyone, the reception staff seem to not have any form of customer service!
Earlier on today, I had been sent a message from one of the nurses about some travel vaccination advice which had been sent to my dad's phone as it said the same thing.
I rang reception to find out what MY advise was - the lady was extremely rude and refused to give me any of my OWN information as it had been sent to my dad and they can't disclose anything without permission?!
I didnt ask for my dad's information, I asked for my OWN. I am 18 so surely I have a right to know about MYSELF and have access to my own files! RIDICULOUS!!

Always bad but worse since covid. The system for getting help and an appointment couldn't be more obstructive and hopeless. It is not right that we have to fill out an online form then wait for someone to decide if/ how we access care. Suggest we all object and get a service we are entitled to, not one which suits the GP'S.

All of these online systems are useless. Anima is dreadful too. Just answer the phone and help people with appointments, we’ve gone from having a top surgery to a soulless and uncaring one in a matter of years. When someone in our family isn’t well, there’s nothing the surgery can offer that is remotely helpful. Appointments weeks away and even if something comes up before then via a cancellation, you’ve missed out because you booked online.
