St. Lawrence's is a wonderful Anglican church with a history dating as far back as the 12th century. While the building itself is worthy of study, there are many other aspects of interest, including the "Frosterley marble" (actually black limestone...) which holds many fossils in its polished surface. The old organ is well worth a closer look too, and the stained glass windows are too good to miss.

St Lawrence Church is such an amazing place. The welcome you receive is priceless, honest, and warm. You're met as soon as you enter this peaceful place. You are warmly invited to take a seat and enjoy a cuppa with the parishioners and vicar. Pop in the welcome is amazing.

St Lawrence Church is well worth a visit and a walk about. There are interesting memorial plaques and the seating is in family pews rather than open seats. Enjoy the stain glass widows presentations and have a look at some of the well caved tombstones. Also be informed that George Washington the first President of USA’s father and brothers worshiped in the church

Medieval church accessed through a 19th century cloister housing an arts and crafts gallery. In need of restoration after recent flood damage, but it has some beautiful stained glass and wooden ceilings. I was particularly impressed with the monumental tomb of Lady Anne Clifford and that of her mother Margaret. Some lovely flowers in the churchyard too.

Beautiful parish church in a fabulous market town. Lovely setting on the banks of the Eden. Scary to see the line where the floods reached though. Credit to all the people who have brought it back to it's former glory. Well worth a few minutes of your time if visiting Appleby !
