Came to visit here, there was no receptionist. Staff at one of the ward didn’t care just wagwan opened the door and wouldn’t talk every time it was buzzed open and no conversation just hostility. Only one member of staff was helpful and followed procedures by the looks of it. This is very concerning at the state of this hospital. There should be a review in place.

Ironic that the only outside space available to frequent was the heavily used smoking area, though information about addiction support/rehab is posted all over the place. There was a staff member with a white crochet hat that was spiteful rather than apologetic when he and another prevented me from going outside to have some fresh air. Either the facility was not equipped to treat and rehabilitate me or the previous place didn't provide accurate info on transfer. I would have been better recovered and grateful for it if it was given in the right way at the right time but I felt moved on from 1 facility to the next with more problems than the start. The ward Dr agreed discharge me but on the day of discharge, the female pharmacist using a male name tried to get me to go back and had contacted my next of kin to inform them that I was not discharged which also caused me problems. I returned changed and not for the better, unable to believe that any of the professionals contacting me now want to help. Would an apology alone take back what is gone?

Unbelievable, caring, considerate, professional staff, from consultants, nurses, support workers, therapists, housekeepers and catering staff. Words cannot describe how good this hospital is. I was admitted at a very very low point and left feeling better and my outlook on life was so more positive. A big big thank you too you all. I will visit at first opportunity to see you all.

Some of the staff are caring. The therapists here do care, from what I’ve heard of a patient here. However, the hospital itself is a mess. We were told that this hospital was amazing, that it would feel like an open ward and that the patient will probably get leave after 2 weeks of being there. The consultant psychiatrist that is in charge was two faced and sometimes threatening towards a patient and caregiver. Very poor communication and organisational skills, they missed a patient’s cardiology appointment 3 times due to miscommunication, not writing leave forms correctly therefore delaying or preventing granted leave. Discharge from here is taking a very long time, and is managed quite poorly. I will be complaining to the CQC as soon as the patient is out.

Deeply disappointed by the way we were all treated (including family members). Absolutely no compassion or empathy given, felt we were just fobbed off. Wrong information given to us by nurses (including medication). On 2 occasions, they gave us another patients details thinking it was our case!! Thank God we are out of here and hope NEVER have to deal with Byron Ward again!! Absolutely awful!!

Very disconcerting to say the least
I will start of with "good points", but as I haven't been there for a while I am not sure if these will still be good points.
It was fairly clean better than a hotel I guess, I got regular meals and they even had a patients cooker so I could occasionally cook something that I wanted to cook.
I stayed for 3.5 years or more, I was not under section and was therefore a "voluntary patient" however I was driven to the hospital by someone from the Devon NHS partnership trust and was not allowed to leave except for trips to the local town Harrow until they had set up a supported living company that was "appropriate to my needs".
Is it legal to hold someone against their will for this length of time?
I gave my "notice" which they required a month for and they said but IAN, you need help!
I suffered a lot of stress from wondering why I was being held here and more from wondering why they would not listen to me.
I know this country has laws about slander and my mother who was told that she was more than welcome to be part of this "care" has advised me that I may well get in trouble for saying this, but I am 32 and I honestly don't care,
I would honestly prefer to kill myself than be forced to go back this again.
I see that people may be wondering what exactly was wrong with me and if this could have been appropriate treatment,
well my diagnosis as it stands is mild generalized anxiety disorder and apparently I had suffered a brief psychotic episode in the hospital,
which from my perspective was a response to them refusing to let me leave. I questioned this decision. They put me on Aripiprazole.
which I was prescribed "just in case" but then not given a choice about taking.
I see seamus is still the manager.
- do they really need that gardener?

I have had a full time job for several years and generally keep myself fit.
I have never had a problem with rent, I do not have a criminal record.

An explanation or apology? nothing yet!

I think it's only right to add that since writing this a couple of days ago Cygnet have since responded with an apology, which means a lot to me. Thank you Cygnet, I will be in touch by email as suggested.

Ok so another addition I did email and they still deny that they broke the law, which I know they did.

Also again another update, when ringing the hospital to complain the answer is always there isn't a manager. Can I have the dates you were here,
Name
Address....
But there was no manager.

Ok and now another update on the basis that I've contacted the Hospital and the manager and they have only responded with negative remarks and refuse to accept any responsibility for what has happened the dot gov UK has this information that it is illegal and as I say I have the money and I fully intend to take these people to court for their crimes. And financial abuse which was there at the time that I was forced into the supported living under the same under the same company. I have no intention of adding anything positive to this review as I fully believe that they should already have been shut down by the time I arrived.
I believe Jayne Hayden has deliberately broken the law and in order to gain money for a company that she prefers.
Further more Andrew has done his best to patronise Me in his emails.

Can anyone explain please what this company is and why I would want it
