This Place is Absolutely Shocking.my sons phychiatrist dr Gladstone changing my sons medication without giving me any knowledge of this. Causing my son who has Autism Great Distress due to the sudden change. Also a mental health nurse from there accused me of making fun of her name. When I’d simply asked her to spell it. She turned round and said To me don’t make fun of my African name. I’d done no such Thing! This place needs an investigation for sure!

Seriously lacking communication, support and empathy. This mental health service provider is broken to the core and should be under review. It is more likely to cost life's than save them. Staff need some urgent training!

Under prepared and under trained.

Three times I've tried to proceed with an appointment and three times something has fine wrong.

First time that were supposed to call me and they couldn't get through to my phone. I received no call. Because THEY had technical issues I was put down as not attending and dismissed from their service.

I had to refer myself again and waitv4 weeks fir another appointment.

I waited for a phone call to be told it was supposed to be a Skype call and I'll havecticqait fjr a new appointment. I was not told about this.
I received one text about it weeks ago whitch was mixed with many reminders.

I put an official complaint in stating that I have poor me talk health and this us making it worse. They care for vulnerable people and yet they are mire than willing to turn you away at the slightest hiccup. Even if it's their fault.

Even if you are event6seen uf your issue is uncommon they will only offer you group therapy. I kept asking if I could talk with someone about potentially finding a root course and they weren't interested.

I've had zero support, zero understanding and zero guidance.
It's not my responsibility to make sure I'm assessed and j shouldn't have to nag them into it.

I understand the strain the nhs is under but I've used many NHS services and never one this bad.

Disappointing, where to begin, lots of miscommunication, errors, lack of personalised support, staff leaving with hardly any notice or no notice at all, feeling misunderstood and not listened to properly, lack of sufficient care and prompt crisis care. In the 2 years I have been under their "care" nothing has been dealt with or treated in the correct appropriate way in regards to treatment. I have repeatedly said I have done CBT before & this isn't a suitable or safe option as it causes significant relapses, but I have not been offered anything else but only met with a "our way or the highway" type approach, which ended in a discharge with no referalls or support given elsewhere. Its disappointing that in the 2 years I've been with them, with 2 CPN's who both left abruptly, no check ins or interim support to follow, just disappointing. I bravely ask for help but I am met with many errors, anxiety and miscommunication. I often feel because I am the one with the mental illness my views are not listened to, which is an accurate statement considering I spoke to the manager after writing a frank but calm letter about my feedback and experience of Wakefield House, which was concluded with 'the Matrons will make contact' of which they have not. I did not want to write a public 'review' as that's not what I like to do, but considering this is the only option, here we go. One final note, is that the Waiting area needs a significant update, as a service user this is the first we see, it is our first impression, but the waiting area is a mis match of puzzled tatty collage of wall to wall tired posters, tired furniture and not an area to encourage hope or recovery. We need a waiting area of calm, to inspire and to encourage recovery, even if the area is divided into 2 parts; quiet zone and a 'up for a chat' zone. It can be very overwhelming to go into the building where people are chatting, often chatting about their experiences of mental health which can be a trigger for others waiting to be seen. I will leave my review here if people wish to read, I can only go off my experiences, I have had a disappointing experience here sadly which hasn't helped, and now being discharged I'm left with no support, no treatment (suitable or safe treatment I may add) just well... nothing. Perhaps in the time since May 2021 to now, things may have improved, I don't know. But I'm hoping things may change for the better, a calm waiting area, compassionate, caring, and dutiful staff,
understanding of different struggles, different symptoms and different personalities, we are all unique people, no one is ever the same, therefore treatment and support should be bespoke and personalised. Thank you for reading, with kindness and care.

I will keep this short as I can, I went here a while ago for my hallucinations mainly. I was there for an hour telling over and over again and this guy kept trying to twist my words like he didn't believe me. At the end of it he literally told me " you're not the worst I've seen" I'm not joking he really said that. Then told me to go back to my therapist I was with before even though she was the one that referred me to this place since she could no longer help me!

My son was referred 8/8/18 @10:55 by Gp as per protocol, to the Assessment team and was told somebody would contact him, 14:38 still no contact made, phoned and asked what's procedure was, was told somebody should contact him same day and before 20:00 hrs for telephone consultation, if I thought he was in danger I should ring 999 where a police officer would come out and do a welfare check on him( no wonder the police are over worked and underpaid when NHS staff blatantly tell you to contact them)however no contact was made and at 20:18 hrs I contacted Wakefield House back to be told night staff where coming on shift and they would get somebody to contact me ( hoorah they actually did). Although the lady (Hillary) was very helpful I am fuming. My son has been left actively feeling suicidal without a care in the world, So much for improving mental wellbeing when said staff can't even make a phone call to check on welfare of people whom have followed protocol. He would have been better off going to A and E and waiting 4 hrs to be seen. This is only a short summary of today's activities, needless to say a formal letter of complaint will be followed up and the said GP that referred him will also be made aware that after following the protocol to refer somebody who is actively sucicidal was indeed left to consume his overwhelming feelings alone. Absolutely disgraceful Wakefield House Assessment team you should be ashamed.

I wish every team worked like these do. This is where I feel the safest, they listen, demonstrate care and actively support you when they can. They're obviously overstretched but don't let that put you off, this is the team that CAN help.
