Yesterday I've sent photos of my baby's eye becoming really gunky and has obviously developed conjunctivitis and all they did one day later was give to us the number for primary eye care where the waiting time was an hour! Absolutely disgusting! they just couldn't be asked to make a prescription!!!

I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to the staff and doctors/nurses at Hemsby Medical Centre for their flexibility and going the extra mile to help my elderly parents. I was visiting with my elderly parents as my mother had a routine appointment to see a GP. The night before, my 90-year old father had a fall and cut his head. Although he felt fine, I asked whether a doctor or nurse could check over my father and clean up his head wound while we there there. The resourceful receptionist was wonderful - she found a doctor on a coffee break who agreed to look at him immediately. He cleaned up the wound, glued the gash and did some basic tests for concussion etc. That saved us potentially half a day at the nearest A&E at the James Paget hospital. Despite the unprecedented pressure many NHS staff are under, especially at this time of year, we could not have been better treated. Thank you so much - it meant a great deal to all of us.

My best friend who had some severe mental health issues is now dead. She was not helped when we tried to see a doctor at this surgery - having been sent a text confirming an appointment with a locum doctor (the only doctor available) and being advised to wear a mask, we showed up on time. We were told to take a seat in the waiting room - we were the only patients there. 50 minutes later - the doctor came out of his office and went behind reception to talk to staff there… I asked him when my very poorly friend would be seen…his reply ā€˜I have no appointments, no one is waiting to see me’ A member of staff and two other ladies then emerged from the back office and stood with arms crossed over there chests (rather an intimidating pose) and ā€˜explained’ a mistake had been made…. The appointment should have just been via telephone…when the request to wear a mask was mentioned the gang leader replied ā€˜that was a mistake I’ll make sure to do something about that’. When it was furthermore pointed out to her that the receptionist had checked us in and not mentioned a problem, she replied ā€˜that was a mistake I’ll make sure to do something about that’. By this time my friend wanted to go home and kill herself, she was incredibly distressed and crying - the woman (? Practice manager) then said let’s all calm down your friend is getting upset!!!! The attitude from these people was without compassion, their only interest was in making sure their rules of engagement were strictly adhered to… they had zero concern for my poor sweet friend who was in such obvious distress…. The woman said the doctor had to go on an urgent house visit so couldn’t see her then….we were trying to get her seen for a further 15 minutes - during this time the doctor did not leave his surgery to go on any urgent home visits…. We were just being lied to. This practice showed appalling patient care in fact no patient care whatsoever - if 0 stars were an option that is what they deserve. My friend died one week after this visit to the surgery - I feel her experience there contributed significantly to her death.

Recently we have had a doctor treat my mum called DR Honey. It has been refreshing to be treated, and looked after by someone who has gone above and beyond. Not only has her medical treatment during and out of sessions has been fantastic, she has done the extra bits to make the entire scenario as easy as she can for my mum.

Thank you DR Honey, keep up the good work

Had several problems over the year getting medications using Well pharmacy online - now swapped to Hemsby dispensary. A big thank you to Christine Fryer who was efficient, helpful and friendly, completing the switch in just minutes. 5

As with every surgery, a lot will depend on who you see? That goes with reception and doctor.
On the whole this is one of the better surgeries I have been too.
The dispensery are very helpful and though you have a wait sometimes they make up for it with the service given.
I would definitely recommend this surgery to family and friends.

Usually very helpful but have been put back by one particular doctor trying his hardest to stop me from getting treatment, if it wasn’t for the other great members of staff I’d give this 1-2 stars.
Edit: three months since original post.
I have been told I don’t have to deal with this troublesome doctor, a lot happier.
