My last two experiences with Oakham Medical practice has been very positive. I used the online contact form and I was contacted within a reasonable period of time and I was referred for blood tests and an X-ray very promptly. The doctor I saw was very attentive and caring.

I am a casual patient at OMP rather than one with chronic conditions. I find the staff friendly and helpful and, while I don't tend to need any urgent appointments, the availability works fine for me. They are good with prescriptions and always react well to prescription requests outside the norm.

Really inadequate for the needs of Oakham. Once you manage to speak to a Dr, they are fine, it is actually getting an appointment that is completely frustrating.
Everyone is required to call at 8.30am in the morning as appointments for the following day are not 'released'. This is, of course, manic (although the automatic call back feature does help to a degree).
Recently I have been waiting for a call back with a Dr and no calls are received, however I receive a message telling me they tried to call and I need to rebook (the Dr is obviously having issues with their phone). This happened 2 or 3 times and so their policy (so I am told by the receptionist) is that I cannot be added to the call back again for today and have to try again tomorrow!
I can appreciate this if someone is just not answering calls etc, but in this case the calls are not even coming through!
Another 8.30am manic attempt for an appointment it is!
Another surgery really needs to be built to meet the needs of the town, OMP is just not sufficient/adequate for the current population. It is all well OMP responding to these reviews saying they release x appointments per population, but something is obviously not working and needs to be revisited by the partners. When people call up because they/their child is ill they should be able to see/speak to a Dr that day/the next day - that isn't happening.
To add, in the last 6 months I have struggled so much to get appointments that I have had to go to the pharmacist and both required antibiotics which I paid for privately. It should not be the case that you have to pay privately to get medical treatment (or go to a&e) - otherwise what is the point of the GPs!

The telephone call back system works really well - no more waiting in a queue listening to music for however long….. Once called back, the Receptionist was very pleasant & helpful. She was able to get an appointment for me, by an appropriate person, in an excellent time frame.

My wife and I have been with Oakham Medical practice for over 5 years, since we relocated here. We have always been very happy with the overall service provided and from our interactions with Reception staff, they particularly over the last 6 months or so we have found them to be considerate and very helpful.

Brilliant service today. Called at 9.10 am , used the call back queueing option. Spoke to someone at 9.36am, appointment made for 11.05 am. I was seen, prescribed meds , had collected meds and was home by 11.40 am.

Great if you want to wait for over an hour for an appointment, see a different doctor everytime you go and be talked to like you're an idiot by the clown at the reception.
