Manor Street is an excellent practice. Despite the great pressures facing all parts of the health system, the reception team work very hard to find an urgent appointment if needed. My recent consultation with Dr Mary Kayode was fantastic. She listened carefully to my concerns and was both professional and caring. I really appreciated her advice and support.

The surgery is exceptionally efficient and professionally managed. Having relocated from London and experienced a month-long wait to see a doctor, the contrast is striking. Dr Anika was outstanding during the consultation, demonstrating a high level of care and empathy.

Popped in to see the nurse today for a health check-up. Service was fantastic. Was seen on time. The nurse was outstanding. I also got to see a Dr quickly because the nurse wanted something double checked. The Dr saw me on their lunch break and the nurse gave me extra blood tests. Through her lunch break too! The receptionist was friendly, attentive and really helpful.

I have just moved to Berko, after living in London for 30 years. The attention I was given today beats anything I had during my time in London. All the people I met at this surgery today bent over backwards to look after me. This is an outstanding GP practice.

Excellent work and attention from all the staff in general. The doctors are exceptional. The nurses, all the professional staff and a lot of empathy with the patients and everything in general, just 3 weeks ago I changed GP surgery after being in the previous one for 9 years and without a doubt it was the best decision I have ever made. thank you NHS ?‍⚕️?‍⚕️?‍⚕️?‍‍‍‍‍?

I've been with this surgery for 16 years and have, for the most part had positive experiences, however my recent interactions have been anything but. With this most recent one compelling me to share via a review.

Given prostate cancer awareness has been in the news a lot lately I decided I could delay no further and booked myself in for a prostate exam, which I had 3 weeks ago. I had made it clear, the fortnight before my exam (2 weeks seems to be the minimum amount of time it takes before you can see anyone here these days) that I needed a face to face appointment and that I'd prefer a male doctor.

The day comes and I turn up to be told that my appointment had been booked as a phone consultation! I came straight out and explained that I'd like to see a prostate exam conducted over the phone and that I had made it quite clear what I needed doing when I made the appointment. It was then at least changed to a face to face consultation, but with no hint of an apology.

The doctor said they would like to follow up with a PSA blood test and explained that I could have it done either there or at the nearest hospital (Hemel). Given I'm only 5 minutes walk from the GP I opted for the surgery and was then told the soonest it could be done was 3 weeks time (11th Dec). I took the appointment but today, less than 2 hours from the scheduled time I get an SMS from the surgery saying they have had to cancel it!

I called and was told the nurse was sick and the soonest they could rebook for is the 28th December, so near enough another 3 weeks away. I have decided to take my chances as a walk up at Hemel hospital instead, which I should have done in the first place rather than wasting 3 weeks and then being faced with having to wait another 3 (who is to say that next appointment wouldn't then also be cancelled).

Surely if there is that much of a demand for blood tests and other functions carried out by the nursing staff it would be an idea to scale up the amount of staff to meet that demand. The wait time of 3 weeks for a blood test is poor, particularly when, on cancelling you are looking at another wait of the same timeframe, with no expedited options are available in recognition of that cancellation.

As a result Manor Street Surgery is just not meeting my needs at the moment.

When you call the surgery an automated message plays on a loop to inform you ‘no one is available to take your call and you can’t leave a message so call back later’, which is extremely unhelpful when calling about an urgent issue for a newborn baby whilst our application to join the practice was in progress, so other booking options weren’t available. After calling 10 times to hear this automated message a member of staff answered, and said to me ‘yeah well you’ve called the wrong number’. I asked for the correct number and was told ‘that’s for you to work out’ before being hung up on. I have now cancelled the registration application and registered at an alternative GP. I’ve never left a negative review online before but I was genuinely shocked and appalled at this experience and to say that I’d advise others to avoid is an understatement.

Waited 3-4 weeks for a NHS health checkup. The nurse moved my appointment from the Monday afternoon to the Tuesday morning.

Surprise she called in sick on the Tuesday - probably could have lived with this but was given an alternative appointment in 4 weeks. When I suggested that waiting for another 4 weeks to risk having another appointment which could be dropped at the last minute was unresaonable, I was gaslighted.

Having an appointment cancelled is one thing, but being pscyholoically abused is another level of health care.

I'd avoid this surgery if you can.
