On holiday in Crantock as we do twice a year with our doggies, my wife (she’s 72) was feeling unwell (non specific just ‘not right’) and also came down with a rash on both shins with lots of swelling to both lower legs. After speaking to Beth on 111 on Sat 21.09 said we would get a call back which eventually came today at 9:38 from Jo who advised going to st Austell community hosp for check up at 1.30 today. Attended and comparing our local hosp which guaranteed today would be choc a block with a huge variety of nationalities, all with families en tow, and staff harried and harassed because people are not getting seen. Compare this with the standard of care received by my wife today (1.30 appointment) at st Austell community hosp, they were totally brilliant, the staff on reception (can’t remember name sadly)were fabulous, polite funny and doing a great job. The attending doctor was bang on time at 1:30 and put my wife straight at ease by calling her Barbara and telling us his name was Mike. He was clearly happy in his work and was just wonderful and this is an example of what all doctors should be like! Thank you Kernow health professionals, you’re all brilliant and hopefully we’ll never have to see you again but if we do, we know we’ll be in very good hands, thank you all
