I had my gallbladder removed on July 8th at The Duchy. Everything went very smoothly from the moment I arrived to the time I walked back out the door.
I met my surgeon Mr Pyser, a lovely laid-back man, who made me feel very calm, as I was very scared of this surgery due to other health problems.
I couldn't believe how fast my surgery was after consultation, 3 weeks.
I want to give Nurse Jo a huge shout-out, I immediately took to her, kindness is her middle name. She guided me through, took me down to the theatre and was there when I opened my eyes and continued to be hands-on throughout, a big thank you Jo..
It is possible I missed the 24 hour after op call, but things seemed to be fine except the bruising, one the size of a football which I proudly showed off !! But after 20 yrs of sufferance from my gallbladder, it was a small price to pay !!
No more gallbladder attacks, its bliss !! Thank-you to everyone, from receptionists to nurses to my surgeon, A big Thank you all so much.

After three attempts to contact the hospital to enquire about private blood testing, I gave up. A frustrating game of telephone ping pong ensued, being cut off each time. Pleased I did not engage with
The hospital having read inconsistent reviews.

My partner had a vacectomy reversal with the Duchy at the start they were great, responded quickly to our questions, seen us within decent time to plan ahead for the operation, told us Aftercare was provided, operation went ahead after the money we paid out right processed, we didn't get a follow up phone call after to make sure my partner was ok, unfortunately it wasn't, trying to get hold of the consultant who did the surgery, was harder to get hold of and any department I spoke to on the phone passed me from person to person. My partner then needed some antibiotics and trying to get hold of them was challenging.
My partner then had a haematoma which wouldn't go away on its own naturally, it took 5 weeks to get an ultrasound and that was also challenging. I have pleaded with the consultant to see my partner as he's been in alot of pain since the operation which was in mid March, the way he has been treated has been inadequate and the operation hasnt been successful, we have paid a lot of money to have such appalling aftercare and lost all trust in the Duchy Hospital and would never recommend. Currently in complaints process will update again when I hear back. please anyone thinking of using this hospital please re think your decision and go elsewhere!

Won't let me reply to you Louise funny how quickly you can reply now it's out for the public to see this is the fastest reply I've had since before you took 4 thousand pounds off us!
Once again I'm not being listened too, we were aware of the risks we were taking before the procedure, yes I'm upset it hasn't worked but what I'm more upset is the after care provided has been so awful and as a private hospital you had a duty to make sure my fiancée was ok and this was not the case I will be ringing you today and will continue to update on here on how it goes people have a right to know

Miss Lone and the whole gynaecology team are amazing!!
Usually anxious and nervous, I had the best experience during my surgery and everything was first-class start to finish.
Would recommend this clinic in a heartbeat.
Thank you all ❤️?

Had gallbladder removal surgery here yesterday. Absolutely first class service from start to finish. All the staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Mr Finlay my surgeon was so reassuring and friendly. Really glad I chose Ramsay Healthcare at The Duchy Hospital. Highly recommend this hospital.

I had an operation here yesterday, which went very well, thanks to the great care and treatment from the staff, all of whom were very caring and professional.
However, I had a query about my aftercare and trying to navigate the automated telephone system proved impossible. These systems are now ubiquitous, and they neither save time nor are they more efficient, they just save money for the company. Not everybody has the time to listen to a disembodied voice telling them how important their call is to them, which obviously it isn't.
I gave up in the end and consulted Dr. Google.
Just to emphasize once again, this is not the fault of the staff, who were superb.

Recently had a hip replacement at the Duchy as a private patient. Mr. Kincaid Dr. Sim and the surgical team were absolutely fabulous. As were the physio team at the hospital.
The care I received on the ward after my op however was somewhat lacking and in need of improvement.
After returning to the ward after recovery I had to put my own night dress on myself and remove certain “ parafinalia” to get myself more comfortable. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable and “slippy”. The bathroom was not clean, the floor was black and could have done with a good scrub. The toilet bowl was dirty and the seat was not raised which is essential for hip/ knee replacement patients. Indeed the room in general was not clean and rather shabby, the window seal was green! The medical team were informed right from the start that I would need the maximum amount of pain relief available. This was ignored and/or not believed and so I was best part of ten hours in excruciating pain which could have been avoided.
I was not given an evening meal so was starving throughout my stay. I was given coffee and biscuits which was more like dishwater. My previous hip was also done at the Duchy but as an NHS patient at which time I received far superior care.
Given the fact that I paid for my treatment I was very disappointed in the care I received at Duchy and not impressed at all. At this point I’m undecided as to whether to make an official complaint or to take this matter further on a legal basis.
