My partner and I had the most wonderful weekend at The Newt celebrating our anniversary. As it was our first time staying over I booked us a Hadspen House Garden View room, which was an extraordinary experience from the terrific views out of each window, to the bathroom on a scale like I’ve never seen before... It was larger than our bedroom at home! Hadspen House and the surrounding gardens are utterly enchanting and visiting in the autumn only added to the breathtaking scenery. We had treatments in the spa and ate at both restaurants in the evening, which were superb, in particular the Farmyard Kitchen. Our weekend actually became a double surprise for my partner as I proposed to her on a walk through the grounds. Finding a quiet spot during a busy Saturday was challenging but we didn’t want to make a fuss and the one member of staff we told very sweetly put a bottle of champagne in our room. The last thing I’ll say is that all the staff are truly exceptional and really do go above and beyond. It was so lovely to hear how genuinely passionate they are and how the owners let them manage their specialist areas without much interference.

I want to give a particular shout-out to Mollie in the reservations team who helped me curate the perfect anniversary/engagement weekend; Zen on the front desk who very sweetly put the champagne in our room and took us on the most amazing tour of the estate; Ellie who’s passion for gardening made me want to dive straight into my garden at home and showed us around Hadspen House’s spectacular gardens; and finally Charlie who gave us the most delicious tasting tour of how The Newt make their world-class cider, I don’t think there was a single question he couldn’t answer! Thank you all for a weekend we will never forget.

We arrived here this afternoon. The hotel and grounds are stunning. The staff were really very welcoming too. Unfortunately we had an issue where I was unhappy with one aspect of the reservations process. The way the staff handled it (and me) was faultless. Kudos to David and Richard the Manager. Thank you for dealing with a genuine complaint in such a professional (and courteous) manner.If anybody is booking in here - please be aware the fabulous pools and steam rooms are included. So bring your swim wear!!!

An overnight stay in the Farmyard rooms. We had such a wonderful stay felt like we had a 3 night break with everything we did. The spa was lovely. the grounds are simply stunning. The rooms are so comfortable and full of wonderful complimentary newt products. Love our self drive buggy! I am looking forward to staying again.

We had the most amazing visit to the Newt as new members. Truly unique experience with so much more to discover in future visits. We had an outstanding meal at The Botanical Rooms served primarily by the wonderful Maisie.
The service throughout the site was excellent and other special mentions to Niamh in The Garden Cafe and Hayley on the front desk helping us with our membership. We are looking forward to future visits to see the gardens through all the varying seasons. Truly wonderful!

The team, are very young in the main, well trained, and motivated to offer good service.

The food in the main house was cooked to perfection.

Great wine list with some real gems on it.

The grounds are simply wonderful.

It’s not cheap ! But is it worth it ? I think so.

This is knockout, worth every penny. We had just one night away from London at The Newt, and when we arrived home, felt we had been away for a week. There was so much to do and discover, and we loved every moment. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, really jawdropping attenton to detail, the staff are all lovely, the food and drink amazing, and all the furniture, art, nooks and crannies, the ancient lift, the basement cellar full of backlit jars, the deer, the treeline walkway, the grotto, and, of course, the reason we went, the Roman Villa, it is all just wonderful. We had a Hadspen Loft room, and it was very big, the bathroom bigger than most London sitting rooms, with a huge, 10 person shower. The amenities in the room are very generous indeed, and much enjoyed. We loved our few hours in the spa - the salt room, sauna, steam room, indoor / outdoor pool, and the airjet jacuzzi beds, it was very pampering and special. Thank you for having us ! We'd love to come again !

This is one of my favourite places ever. We’ve now been for food, drinks and a walk of the grounds 3 times and it’s absolutely perfect.

This place is lovely in the summer but my favourite time of year to come is in the Autumn and Winter. The main house is so cosy, the food is so delicious and warming and the guests are so welcoming and friendly.

I feel in two minds about giving such a good review because I want to gatekeep it because I love this place so much.

We’re going back again this year, a few days before Christmas and I can’t wait.

My husband and I visited for our wedding anniversary and were really impressed. It guess without saying we were expecting great food and that did not disappoint, delicious, well posted and presented, really lovely. But what stood out for me was the exceptional service. From the minute we drove up to the wrong door (couldn’t easily find the car park in the driving rain) and the lovely Ashleigh came running out, umbrella in hand and told us where to go and then offered to drive our car to the car park! Such a thoughtful thing to do to save us getting wet. Bar staff, restaurant staff all discreetly attentive but read their customers well and so quickly realised we were up for a bit of a laugh and joke so matched our energy perfectly, really made the night perfect (we ate here on Friday Oct 19th if anyone reading this wants to let the staff know ☺️). We love food and eating in nice places so this was a winner for us. Thank you ☺️
