My husband was discharged from hospital on Friday. He is under palliative care after failed cancer treatment and s bedridden currently. He became delirious yesterday afternoon and was irritable and confused when carers came. Altho he had had swollen hands and arms when in hospital, his left arm, more particularly his ring finger, was so swollen it had cut into his finger. Called DNs. They said call ambulance. We did not want him hospitalised again. Carer said to call 111 for advice. Ultimately told a GP would be attending within 4hrs. Dr Mazan attended and what a superb job he did. He managed to get the ring off and relieve the pain. The swelling was considerably reduced next morning. Had he not my husband would have had to go to A&E to have it cut off which would have been a nightmare in his current condition. Dr Mazan was very thorough in his examinations and observations and very helpful in discussions about medication scheduling to coincide with 1hr liquid painkiller before carers arrived to move him. Such a relief. So grateful to him for all his help and advice. Hazel Turner on behalf of Graham Turner.

Patronising and rude and really no help. Can’t believe how I was treated. Utterly pointless

I have to say I've used 111 in other parts of the country and CHOC are by far the best and provide an outstanding service. My partner was triaged and medically assessed on the phone in less than two hours. We then had an appointment with a CHOC doctor at Whitehaven hospital within an hour and a half. In other parts of the country you just don't get this level of service. These people care, it's what the NHS should be run like in general.

Quality care and quick appointment. My toddler was scared of doctors but the nurse practitioner on duty last night made the whole experience a very positive one. He came away smiling. Thank you

I was transferred to CHOC oncall by the NHS111 after I needed advice after scalding myself. I waited 10mins for a call with an appointment which was within the next half hour, I went up to the clinic, seen at the appointment time, such a professional, friendly nurse who dressed my wound, gave advice and follow up advice on what to do. So impressed. On another note, the waiting area for CHOC is next to A&E waiting which was absolutely heaving. I was seen after waiting 5mins as I had an appointment with CHOC . It pays to use the appropriate service at the appropriate time. Well done CHOC and thank you for a wonderful service.

Put through after a 111 call. Severe problem with back, unable to stand. Was 7.20 am. Told by Dr they close in 40 minutes and wouldn't be able to get to me. Ring 999 or call your Gp when they open. Waste of time.
